Job Summary: The Field Construction Leadman supports the execution of commercial construction projects by combining hands-on field work with jobsite coordination and management responsibilities. This role works closely with the Senior Estimator/Project Manager, Estimators/Project Managers and Field Foreman to complete assigned projects.
The Leadman assists in managing large projects and independently runs smaller jobs, ensuring work is completed safely, on time and within budget. The role requires both technical construction skills and the ability to coordinate subcontractors, vendors and project logistics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Construction Execution
Perform hands-on construction work including carpentry, drywall, painting and concreteRead and interpret construction drawings, specifications and scopes of workImplement construction methods and ensure quality installationAssist with layout, material selection and constructability improvementsApply working knowledge of building codes (IBC, ANSI, NFPA)Troubleshoot field issues and determine appropriate solutions
Project & Field Management
Assist in managing job schedules, subcontractors and daily field operationsIndependently manage smaller construction projects from start to finishTrack labor, job progress and project costsCoordinate permits, inspections and required documentationProcess change orders and maintain project recordsParticipate in project meetings, job planning and closeout activitiesEnsure compliance with safety standards and company policies
Communication & Coordination
Serve as a key liaison between field teams, office staff, clients and vendorsProvide excellent customer service and maintain strong relationshipsCommunicate project updates, issues and solutions effectivelyCoordinate with internal departments (Accounting, Legal, Leasing, Property Management)Support meetings, reporting and documentation requirements
Property Support
Assist with maintenance-related construction tasks as neededParticipate in on-call rotation for after-hours support
Take ownership of additional job duties and projects assigned by the Kinsley Properties management team.
Experience:
1-3 years of commercial construction or building maintenance experienceTrade school education or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in carpentry (required) and general construction tradesAbility to read blueprints and construction documentsUnderstanding of construction systems, materials and schedulingBasic knowledge of building codes and safety standardsExperience with Microsoft Office an project documentation tools

Work Environment & Requirements:
Full-time position (typically Monday-Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM; overtime as needed)On-call rotation (approximately one week per month)Company-provided vehicleAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical construction tasksWork in various conditions including noise, dust, heights and weather exposureValid driver's license requiredMust pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing
