    A Substitute Teacher supervises and teaches students in the event that their Regular Teacher is unable to lead the class. Substitute Teachers work for Kings Bay Y / JCC Brooklyn schools to offer emergency support for classrooms, fill long-term absences or help cover a class during a transition period. They accept assignments on a flexible schedule and may be called to fill in the morning of the school day

    Main Responsibilities:

Students are engaged in activities that are both relevant and of great interest to them, including: art, literacy, dance and music. They will use their five senses to explore the world around them and be exposed to a variety of different learning materials.

    We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Afterschool Teacher to join our team on a consistent schedule. The Afterschool Teacher will support classroom activities, supervise students, and step in to lead when the lead teacher is unavailable. This role provides essential support to ensure smooth classroom operations, whether during transitions, long-term teacher absences, or in day-to-day classroom needs.     Main Responsibilities

    Prepare the classroom starting at 2:30pm for the children prior to the start of after school and on a daily basis.

    Take photos throughout the week and send weekly emails to parents

    Plan activities for the week ahead of time following the curriculum appropriate for ages 2-4.

    Maintain a safe, clean and orderly classroom environment (including the area outside the room as well as cubbies and bulletin boards) in compliance with Department of Health standards.

    Leave the classroom in good order each day. Materials should be put away, table surfaces cleaned with a weak bleach solution, and chairs stacked to allow the floors to be cleaned.

    Provide positive guidance and must have strong classroom management skills.

    Relate to children in a warm, respectful manner and set appropriate and reasonable limits and expectations.

    React appropriately and immediately to unexpected circumstances (i.e falling child).

    Be able to lift, carry and hold children, to stoop and bend to a child's level throughout the day.

    Communicate with parents

    Qualifications

    College credits in Early Childhood Education (at least 1 year) or Substitute certificate

    Experience in leading and instructing childcare students – at least 1 year

    The Human Resources Coordinator supports the daily operations of the HR department and serves as a primary point of contact for onboarding, recruitment coordination and employee documentation. This role manages onboarding for all new hires, including the high volume of seasonal staff hired for Summer Camp, ensuring required documents and HRIS entries are completed accurately and on time. The HR Coordinator also maintains compliant employee records, assists employees with HR process questions and supports recruitment efforts through job postings, applicant tracking and interview coordination. This is a hands-on role with training provided and strong opportunities for growth within the HR field.


    Job Responsibilities:

    Guide all new hires, including part-time and seasonal employees, through the onboarding process by collecting required documents, verifying completeness, and ensuring all onboarding requirements are completed on time.

    Handle onboarding for a high volume of seasonal staff leading up to summer camp

    Ensure accurate filing of onboarding documents and timely entry of new hire data into the HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now)—training provided

    Program clearances & background checks—training provided

    Maintain confidentiality and ensure HR files & HRIS records are updated and audit-ready

    Respond to employee questions about HR processes (for example onboarding, employment documents, direct deposit setup and basic policy questions) in accordance with agency handbook policies.

    Understands employee handbook and able to answer questions and provide guidance to employees

    Track required employee documentation (for example work authorization, medicals and clearances) and follow up on expiring or missing items to maintain compliance.

    Assist in preparing HR reports or summaries for leadership (e.g., hiring status, onboarding progress, employee rosters)

    Assist with the full lifecycle of hiring, including job postings, candidate screening, and onboarding

    Manages invoicing for the department, assuring that bills are accurate and submitted in a timely manner for payment.

    Collaborate with HR Manager to develop and implement HR initiatives and programs

    Performs other duties as assigned by HR Manager or as required


    Qualifications

    AS/BA/BS in business administration, human resources, or related field required

    1.5+ years of HR related experience, preferably supporting processes such as onboarding, recruitment, or employee documentation.

    Familiarity with HR procedures, onboarding processes, and confidentiality standards (strongly preferred)

    Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers.

    Demonstrated ability to maintain employee data at the highest level of confidentiality.

    Working knowledge of employment policies and employment law is preferred

    Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Comfort learning HR software systems (ADP)—training provided

    The Head Teacher is responsible for the education and care of the children and for developing curriculum, activities, and routines in a manner appropriate to the age of the children and contributing to the effective operation of the overall program. The head teacher reports to the director. The head teacher’s responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following description.

    Main Responsibilities:

    Interpret and be able to articulate school philosophy and the Department of Health guidelines, goals, and procedures.

    Respond appropriately to emergencies with awareness of emergency procedures.

    Prepare the classroom arrangement and environment for the children prior to the start of school and on a daily basis.

    Relate to children in a warm, respectful manner and set appropriate and reasonable limits and expectations.

    Assess children’s needs and developmental progress on an ongoing basis.

    Prepare written reports on each child prior to each Parent/Teacher conference.

    Maintain communication during summer break as needed for planning following the school year and documentation and feedback for the previous school year.

    Communicate daily and meet weekly in the classroom with the assistant teacher. The assistant teacher should be advised of the daily plans and have access to planned activities for reference.

    Supervise and assess student teachers and aides assigned to the classroom.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (Required)

    New York State teaching certification in Early Childhood or currently working toward certification, including recent graduates (required)

    Knowledge and skills relating to and planning for preschool children

    Ability to interact in a supportive and nurturing manner with children and parents

    Ability to organize and plan, both independently and cooperatively with others

    Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

    At least one year of childcare experience (Required)

    Schedule
