A nationwide provider of facility management and commercial construction solutions is hiring a Director of Construction Operations to lead construction execution and operational performance across projects. This role requires a strategic, revenue-minded leader who can manage internal teams and General Contractors, drive consistent project delivery, and uphold high standards for quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
What youll do
Lead and manage internal teams, General Contractors, and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Oversee the full lifecycle of large-scale commercial construction projects from planning through completion.
Leverage multi-trade knowledge (e.g., electrical, HVAC, carpentry) to guide execution and maintain quality standards.
Provide high-level reporting to the COO progress updates, risks, challenges, and solutions.
Build and lead cross-functional project teams; drive collaboration and accountability.
Drive operational strategy and process improvement; implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes.
Establish and enforce quality, performance, and safety standards for construction operations.
Own risk identification/mitigation and ensure regulatory and safety compliance.
Maintain proactive client communication before, during, and after projects to support long-term relationships.
What you bring
10+ years construction management experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership overseeing large commercial projects.
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Masters preferred).
Financial construction management experience with direct P&L oversight or budget control; pricing, bidding, and job costing experience.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage contractors, and build/scale departments and teams.
Demonstrated technical construction experience with hands-on, multi-trade knowledge (HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry).
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, time-management, and communication skills; customer-focused stakeholder management; ability to work independently.
Safety leadership and alignment with core values emphasizing speed, quality, and customer service.
Preferred experience
Commercial construction and/or facility maintenance/service industry experience; project management principles; success handling high-volume work orders and revenue targets; OSHA certification.
