We’re seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support our leadership team in daily operations, compliance oversight, and staff development.
Position OverviewThe Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of dispensary operations, ensuring full compliance with Ohio’s Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations. This role provides leadership in retail operations, staff development, and guest experience — helping to drive operational efficiency and uphold The Garden’s standards of excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance & OversightEnforce compliance with all DCC rules and regulations.Support management of inventory control, Metrc entries, and internal audits.Train and coach staff on cannabis policies, purchase limits, ID verification (21+), and packaging compliance.Monitor and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with state laws.Daily Operations & Retail ManagementAssist with scheduling, floor supervision, and staff coverage.Oversee product receiving, reconciliation, and inventory presentation.Manage opening and closing duties, cash handling, and POS oversight.Support sales reporting, KPI analysis, and implementation of compliant promotional strategies.Customer Service LeadershipEnsure all guests receive a professional, compliant, and engaging experience.Resolve escalated service issues with empathy and discretion.Provide ongoing coaching to budtenders on guest interactions, education, and responsible sales practices.Staff Development & TrainingSupport hiring, onboarding, and continuous staff training.Track completion of all DCC-mandated certifications.Conduct coaching sessions, evaluations, and mentorship for career development.Serve as acting General Manager when required.Communication & ReportingGenerate and review daily operational and compliance reports.Liaise with vendors, inspectors, and DCC representatives as needed.Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, audits, and employee activity.QualificationsMust be 21 years of age or older.High school diploma or GED required; degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred.Minimum 3 years of retail management experience; cannabis experience preferred.Familiarity with Ohio DCC regulations or willingness to complete compliance training.Proficient in Metrc, POS systems, Microsoft Office, and retail management tools.Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.Working ConditionsFlexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.Must successfully complete a DCC background check and fingerprinting process.Why This Role MattersAs Ohio’s adult-use cannabis market continues to evolve, the Assistant General Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring that The Garden operates efficiently, ethically, and compliantly.
