We’re seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support our leadership team in daily operations, compliance oversight, and staff development.

    Position Overview

    The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of dispensary operations, ensuring full compliance with Ohio’s Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations. This role provides leadership in retail operations, staff development, and guest experience — helping to drive operational efficiency and uphold The Garden’s standards of excellence.

    The Dispensary Supervisor supports the day-to-day operations of an adult-use cannabis dispensary licensed under Ohio’s Division of Cannabis Control (DCC). This role ensures full compliance with state regulations, manages team performance, maintains secure handling and dispensing of cannabis products, and delivers an exceptional adult-use retail experience for customers 21 and older.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    Compliance & Security:

    Enforce all DCC regulations; customer age verification, purchase limits, advertising, signage, prohibited items).Maintain 24/7 video surveillance, secure access points, alarm systems, and restricted area access.Conduct daily inventory audits, loss prevention measures, and discrepancy reporting via Metrc.Oversee customer access procedures, ensuring ID scans and age (21+) are verified at entry.Maintain all necessary records: purchase transactions, destruction logs, employee certifications, and incident reports. 

    Team Management:

    Lead, schedule, and supervise budtenders, receptionists, and floor staff across shifts.Train new hires in DCC adult-use cannabis laws, customer service standards, and point-of-sale usage.Hold the team accountable for SOPs, compliance behaviors, and accurate product knowledge.Conduct regular team huddles to review promotions, safety updates, and new DCC changes. 

    Retail Operations:

    Monitor floor activity, assist in high-volume situations, and ensure smooth checkout and dispensing.Resolve escalated customer concerns or discrepancies in a professional, compliant manner.Assist in setting and adjusting floor displays, signage, and pricing to remain within promotional rules.Track inventory flow, coordinate reorders, and ensure expiration dates and packaging standards meet state compliance. 

    Reporting & Communication:

    Prepare daily sales, discrepancy, and incident reports for review by the General Manager.Liaise with inspectors, vendors, and state agencies during audits, visits, or inquiries.Stay up to date with changes to DCC regulations and train staff accordingly. 

    Required Skills & Abilities: 

    Must be at least 21 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.Minimum 2 years in a retail leadership or supervisory role; cannabis experience strongly preferred.Working knowledge of Ohio’s adult-use cannabis laws (ORC 3780 & OAC 1301:18) or willingness to complete DCC-approved compliance training.Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.Proficiency in cannabis POS software (e.g., Dutchie, BioTrack, or similar) and Metrc tracking system. 

    Working Conditions:

    A Packaging Specialist is responsible for fulfilling orders by arranging inventory in shipping packages and preparing them for shipment.     Packaging Specialist work to move products from storage and get them ready for delivery to their next location. Their primary role is to gather inventory and wrap it up for shipping, but they may also assist with other tasks like putting items in the correct place back on the shelves or loading finished packages into delivery trucks. 

     

    Packaging Specialist consider the most space-efficient way to send a variety of items of different shapes, sizes, and weights. They collect the necessary shipping materials like packing foam, bubble wrap, cling wrap and tape to create a shipping package that will protect the items inside. Packers also note any special considerations about the order by labeling the shipping package with information about any perishable, fragile or potentially dangerous items inside.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities: 

    A Packaging Specialist will have the following duties and responsibilities at their place of work:

    Weighing packages and labeling them appropriately.Inspecting packages to ensure they are not damaged.Inspecting shipping packages to ensure they meet shipping regulations.Assembling daily orders by shipping location or any other shipping categoriesKeeping records of packages including delivery notes, invoices, etc.Filling out packing and order forms with the relevant shipping information.Sealing shipping packages and labeling them appropriatelyCleaning shipping packages and other supplies.May operate automatic packaging machinery and maintain such equipment. 

    Required Skills & Abilities: 

    A suitable Packaging Specialist needs to have the following skills and qualifications to be qualified for the role:

    In-depth knowledge of packing and shipping procedures.Ability to operate shipping vehicles.Good knowledge of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment for long hours.Excellent organizational skillsExcellent attention to detailGood communication skillsBasic machinery skills

    Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer ServiceWelcome and assist customers upon arrival.Verify ID and patient registry status.Educate customers on strains, cannabinoids, and product types.Guide customers to select appropriate products.Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards.Work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.Compliance & DocumentationMaintain accurate sales and dispensing records.Follow all DCC regulations and OAC 3796 standards.Dispense cannabis using MMCP and POS software.Report suspicious activity immediately.Operational SupportMaintain cleanliness and organization.Assist with receiving, labeling, and stocking inventory.Perform opening/closing duties and compliance reports.Attend training sessions and maintain product knowledge.Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and punctuality.QualificationsMust be 21 years or older.Hold or obtain a Dispensary Employee License (DCC).High school diploma or GED required.Retail or hospitality experience preferred.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Must pass BCI/FBI background checks.Basic math, computer, and cash handling skills.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.Manual dexterity to operate registers and label products.Schedule & CompensationFlexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Starting pay: $17.00/hour.Must complete DCC-compliant onboarding before floor duties.Why Join The Garden
