    The Wireless Services Field Technician installs wireless telecommunications equipment and supporting fiber optic lines. Performs maintenance on existing small cells and macro cell site equipment and fiber optic lines, which can include but may not be limited to the following listed below.


    Location: As Assigned

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Reports to: Wireless Services Field Supervisor/Manager


    Essential Job Functions:

    Operate, analyze and document fiber and small cell/macro network status via OTDR and RF analyzer equipmentImplement and maintain good housekeeping practicesTrain new team members and ensure that all team members are up to date on knowledge of existing and new technologiesPerform the maintenance of existing cables, including evaluation tests and repairing old faulty cablesPerform rod and rope installs to confirm fiber pathCommunicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status to meet designated goalsClose a project by completing daily production sheets, verifying proper levels after activation and optimization of equipment and troubleshoot as necessaryUse fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including, power meter and OTDR and train other team members in proper useRead, understand and revise fiber transport documentation and maps as requiredAnalyze system failures and other unusual system occurrences to isolate the source of the problem and determine whether the failure is caused by software, hardware, or other factors.Install small cell hardware and equipment for both aerial and underground locationsRead a compass and determine azimuthsInstall and termination of coaxial cablesInstall required power and groundingTest RF cables with the use and understanding of RF test equipment such as PIM unit, Sweep meter and Light meterMust work in a team environment that requires regular communication with other employees, vendors, and clientsWork normal business hours Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with ability to work outside regular business hours as the installation or maintenance schedule requiresPerform all activities in a manner that ensures the safety of self, team, clients and the publicLabeling and designation of equipmentConnect all signal, bus and power cable to include butt, strip, fan, form, wire wrap, and/or crimpProperly run, dress, form, secure and sew all cablingPerform continuity test with Multi Meter or CAT 5 testerAdhere to circuit pack handling and electrostatic discharge proceduresUnderstand and use established safety requirements/procedures for equipment, ESD, power, & radiationCompetently and safely use basic hand toolsCompetently and safely use electric tools (Telecommunication Industry Standards)Understand and interpret OEM and Customer installation requirements including Drawings & QC StandardsInstall frames, cabinets, and misc. equipment including batteries and BBUsInstall cable ladder, radio cabinets & components, transmission equipmentTerminate DC power, Ethernet and fiber jumpersInstall cables, power, inter cabinet, alarm punch down, alarm cables bulkhead antenna ConnectionsPrepare doc redline, site clean-up, site acceptance, doc delivery COPOther duties as assigned


    Requirements:

    Must be eligible to work in the US without employer sponsorshipMust be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testingThree (3) or more years of experience with fiber optics installation and telecommunications equipment installationMinimum of 2 years of experience in Inside PlantFamiliar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and proceduresMust have understanding of the hazards and precautions of the tradeBasic knowledge of installation of telecommunication servicesMust be able to travel to work sites 75-80% of the timeTEAM PLAYERPossess good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environmentMust have basic installation techniques and skillsAble to read simple mechanical, electrical, MOPs and instructional documentationAware of procedures for working around and on "in service equipmentKnow standard wiring color codeBasic knowledge of AC/DC power and installationDemonstrate mental alertnessNeat and clean appearancePossess a sense of responsibility for the safety of the public and the work crewGood attendance recordOrganized with a strong attention to detailCapable of working with minimal supervision while managing time for maximum efficiencyAbility to work under pressure in a fast-paced, quickly changing work environment with strict deadlinesSelf-starter with a positive attitude, strong/hard work ethic and a priority for safetyThe Inside Plant Technician performs work involving installation of inside plant equipment in wireless carrier locations; therefore, the candidate must be able to interface with customer engineer on material and configuration questions and attend MOP meetings and job walk through if requiredThe candidate must also be able to assure quality of installation is accurate and complete


    Certifications, Licenses, and Training Required:

    High school diploma or GEDMust possess a valid state driver’s license with a non-negligent driving recordHave or be able to complete job related certifications including, but not limited to, first aid, safety, CPR, and OSHA 10


    Working Conditions:

    Must be able and willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather conditionsMust be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes, weighing 50 to 75 poundsMust be able to travel to work sites 75-80% of the time and to be away from home location for extended periods of timeMust be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movementMust be able to stand or walk for long periods of timeMust be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl while performing workMust be able to ascend and descend laddersMust be able to sit for hours on equipmentMust be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and any applicable safety gearMust be able to work in undesirable conditions including small, enclosed or partially enclosed areas, dusty, dirty, fumes, odors, noise, wetness, humidity, static electricity, chemicals, hot and cold, at levels higher than three feet and around equipment
