    A critical career opportunity is available at the Pentagon for a Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Engineer to support the AFNCR IT Services program within the National Military Command Center (NMCC). This program provides essential information systems support for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and other key Air Force activities. This role operates within a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where support for senior leaders and national defense missions can never fail. The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert responsible for all engineering and maintenance of the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) and its associated telecommunication systems within the National Capital Region. This position requires a deep understanding of technical principles and a broad knowledge of related specialty areas.

    Please note this is a full-time, overnight shift position (6pm to 6am).

    CERTIFICATIONS: DOD 8140 certification (SEC+ CE or equivalent) - required certification

    CLEARANCE: TS/SCI clearance

    SHIFT: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM; 100% Full time onsite, Pentagon, Arlington, VA; Must be able to work the dedicated overnight shift and be available for rotating schedules or standby as required to provide 24/7 coverage.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Lead the maintenance of the DRSN and its sub-systems for continuous, 24/7 operations within the Pentagon, National Military Command Center (NMCC), and other secure locations in the National Capital Region (NCR).Perform all COMSEC responsibilities for the DRSN, including the operation and maintenance of associated cryptographic devices and their configurations.Support DRSN switch operation and administration, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault isolation, and service restoration.Conduct network planning and engineering for the DRSN, including new circuit installations, modifications, and deactivations.Provide technical and operational support to DRSN end-users, network expansions, and modernization of the telecommunications backbone supporting the switch.Provide problem resolution for all hardware and software elements of the data communication circuits that support the DRSN.Provide outage and restoration information as required, including estimated restoration times.Ensure the availability of DRSN circuits in coordination with other work centers.Perform status updates and continuous circuit monitoring as required.Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-stakes work environment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Candidate must be have an active TS/SCI security clearance at the start of the work.
    Must be able to work rotating shift schedules and/or standby, if required, to provide 24/7 365 coverage. Must have excellent communications skillsBachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience. (Additional years of related experience, training, and/or certifications may be accepted in lieu of a degree).Must currently possess an active Security+ CE certification.Hands-on experience conducting IT communications equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting.Must be able to work the dedicated overnight shift and be available for rotating schedules or standby as required to provide 24/7 coverage.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Extensive, direct experience with the Defense Red Switch Network in a command center environment is highly desired.A strong background in one or more of the following areas: Cryptographic Systems, Tech Control, C4I Systems, or Nuclear Command and Control (NC2).Knowledge of developing, testing, and implementing communications operations contingency, exercise, and restoration plans.Experience in circuit restoration, fault isolation, quality control testing, trend analysis, performance monitoring, and status reporting.Experience working with testing equipment such as Tone Generators, VoIP testers, Scopes, BERT (Bit Error Rate Testers), and Multimeters.Experience conducting Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), advanced troubleshooting, and remove/replace procedures for system components

    As a SharePoint Power Platform Developer and Administrator, you will be responsible for providing support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR. With missions that include the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites, you'll be working in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where AFNCR operations must never fail. Your primary support areas will include IT Operations and Maintenance, Plans, Projects, and Engineering.

    The SharePoint Power Platform Developer and Administrator supports the Air Force National Capital Region Information Technology Services (AFNCR ITS) program by providing administration, development, troubleshooting, and operational support for Microsoft SharePoint Online (SPO), Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms, and Power Platform solutions within enterprise and government environments.

    Location: Joint Base Andrews, MD - 100% on site (with ad-hoc telework)

    Shift: Core hours: 6 am - 6 pm;

    Certifications required:

    Requires a current 8140 IAT Level II (Intermediate or Advanced) certificate (CompTIA Security+).

    Essential Job Functions

    Provide technical support, administration, and troubleshooting for SharePoint Online (SPO) and Microsoft 365 collaboration environments supporting AFNCR ITS customers.Develop and maintain custom SharePoint and Power Platform solutions utilizing: JavaScript CSS HTML jQuery JSON Bootstrap React JS VS Code Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft Power Platform solutions, including: PowerApps Power Automate Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions Resolve Tier 1–3 SharePoint Online incidents, service requests, and operational issues in accordance with established SLAs and ITIL processes.

    Administer SharePoint Site Collections, including:

    Site creation Configuration Permissions management Governance Content management Decommissioning activities Manage SharePoint permissions, Active Directory-integrated access controls, user/group memberships, and high-level administrative functions across multiple environments. Design and modify SharePoint pages, layouts, branding, and user interfaces to support customer and mission requirements. Monitor SharePoint environment health, site usage metrics, performance, and service availability to ensure operational stability. Support enterprise collaboration initiatives, modernization efforts, and process improvement activities across AFNCR ITS supported organizations. Utilize BMC Helix, Remedy, or ServiceNow ticketing systems to document, track, update, and resolve incidents, change requests, and service requests. Participate in Change Management processes, including implementation support, outage coordination, and documentation of system changes. Develop technical documentation, SOPs, knowledge articles, user guides, and training materials for customers and support personnel. Conduct customer engagement sessions to gather business and technical requirements for SharePoint and Power Platform solutions. Coordinate with application teams, database administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure and compliant system operations. Maintain compliance with DoD, Air Force, AFNCR ITS, and cybersecurity policies, including security best practices and operational procedures. Support after-hours maintenance, troubleshooting, and outage response activities as required.

    Basic Qualifications

    Requires Bachelors degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of applicable experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.Must have an active DoD Secret clearance.Requires a current 8140 IAT Level II (Intermediate or Advanced) certificate (CompTIA Security+).Experience administering and supporting SharePoint Online (SPO) within enterprise or government environments. Strong working knowledge of: JavaScript, CSS, HTML, jQuery, JSON, Bootstrap, React JS, VS Code.Experience developing and supporting Microsoft Power Platform solutions, including: PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI. Experience utilizing BMC Helix, Remedy, or ServiceNow ticketing systems in an operational support environment. Experience managing SharePoint permissions, Site Collection administration, governance, and troubleshooting. Experience creating technical documentation, SOPs, and end-user training materials. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, leadership, and technical teams. Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Microsoft certifications related to:

    SharePoint Microsoft 365 Power Platform Power BI Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, or federal government environments. Experience supporting large-scale enterprise SharePoint or Microsoft 365 environments.Experience with SharePoint branding, customization, and workflow automation. Knowledge of Microsoft 365 integrations and collaboration tools. Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise operational support models. Experience supporting secure or mission-critical environments.
