    Wastewater Technician

    We are seeking an energetic, skilled Wastewater Technician for expansion openings in our facility in Penn Yan, NY. This opportunity will require flexibility to work weekends and overtime.

    Main Functions: The Technician/Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, adjusting, and troubleshooting the pre-treatment plant and its processes to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local operating regulations.

    The expected compensation range for this position is: $21/hour to $25/hour

    Schedule (Rotating 12-Hour Shift Schedule) Shift to be decided
    Week A: 36 hours - Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
    48 hours - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

    Shift Times
    Days: 6am - 6pm or 6pm - 6am

    Main Functions:
    The Operator is responsible to operate, monitor, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot the pre-treatment plant and its processes.

    Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of Pre-Treatment plant operations, compliance with Federal, State and Local operating regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Engineering Manager, subject to review through reports and results achieved. Responsibilities Related to the Job:
    Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objectives for quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, cost, safety, and customer satisfaction at KanPak.
    Participate in formulating and administering division's short- and long-range goals and objectives for business growth.
    Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations governing the Pre-Treatment process.
    Maintain a clean and organized Pre-Treatment plant.
    Perform regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all Pre-Treatment plant equipment and machinery.
    Monitor SCADA/HMI dashboards and adjust Pre-Treatment plant chemical setpoints as required to optimize water quality per village requirements.
    Monitor, inspect, and clean pH probes during each shift, ensuring no damage occurs during cleaning.
    Schedule and coordinate sludge and off-spec food waste haul offs; load trucks as required.
    Monitor and replenish chemicals and supplies as needed.
    Complete shift reports and documentation, sending to required teams.
    Communicate with the main facility production team throughout the shift on production schedules.
    Keep empty totes and barrels organized by supplier.
    Assist with snow removal and salting of walkways/sidewalks.
    Perform related duties as required.

    Required Qualifications and Knowledge:
    High school diploma or equivalent.
    Six months to one year of food industry experience preferred.
    Minimum one year of experience in pre-treatment or wastewater plant operation preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    Working knowledge of Pre-Treatment plant operations, methods, and procedures.
    Ability to use general mechanical tools for basic repairs.
    Familiarity with pumps, pre-treatment machinery, and chemical handling.
    Ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions.
    Knowledge of chemicals used in wastewater treatment.
    Strong communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Self-motivated with honesty, reliability, and accountability.
    Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
    Must be flexible with work hours. Work Environment
    Requires climbing ladders/stairs to access tanks and pumps.
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    Requires detection and differentiation of colors, sounds, and smells.
    Work involves bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for prolonged periods.
    Indoor/outdoor environment with exposure to water treatment equipment, chemicals, and waste handling.

    Main functions:
    The Sanitation shift Lead is responsible for leading sanitation staff, assisting production employees during scheduled clean ups on food processing lines and equipment, ensuring timely and adequate cleaning according to specifications.
    Primary Objectives:

    Coordinate KanPak Quality activities and operations to meet objective for quality, food safety, integrity, regulatory compliances, cost, safety and customer satisfaction at KanPak
    Participate in formulating and administering division's short and long range goals and objectives for business growth • Comply and enforce KanPak safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as state and federal regulations to ensure food safety, food defense and cleanliness within the plant.
    • Enforce all elements of food safety within the plant.
    • Prepare for state, federal, and customer inspections.
    • Aligns with sanitation leadership on the direction of sanitation team objectives & KPI's.
    • Influence and motivate cross-functional departments to embrace their critical roles in successful sanitation and food safety programs.
    • Validate sanitation effectiveness with visual inspection and swab performance (ATP, Microbial, Allergen) and chemical concentrations for program compliance.
    • Ensures that minimal downtime is experienced during sanitation and pre-operational inspections.
    • Complete and review all sanitation documentation properly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
    • Validate equipment cleaning SSOP's.
    • Responsible for disassembling, cleaning, and sanitizing of all food-processing equipment including storage areas, handling line cleanups, and the documentation for clean-ups.
    • Communicate potential issues, concerns, or risks with supervisor. Collaborate to achieve a resolution.
    • Demonstrate and educate wearing the proper PPE when working with chemicals.
    • Monitors the facility chemical needs and usage.
    • Perform sanitation related special assignments.
    • Facilitating moving chemicals throughout the Penn Yan facility.

    Employment Requirements: Minimum 3 years of experience in the manufacturing industry

    Preferred Qualifications: Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Ability to read P&ID's and blueprints. Advanced computer skills 3 years of experience in Sanitation
