Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring a SR PLC Controls Project Engineer for our client. This job is responsible for the design, development, programming, implementation, and support of advanced robotic automation systems with a primary focus on PLC and HMI controls. This role serves as a technical leader on complex automation projects, managing electrical design, controls architecture, customer communications, project execution, and system startup activities.What’s a Typical Day Like?Design, develop, program, and support robotic automation systems to meet customer specifications and project requirementsDevelop complete PLC and HMI programs utilizing Allen Bradley and Siemens platformsPerform advanced electrical calculations to verify design requirements and system performanceCreate electrical schematics, control panel designs, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting documentationDevelop, test, startup, debug, and validate complete automation systemsAnalyze test data to ensure systems meet functional and performance specificationsApply industry standards including NEC, ANSI-RIA, OSHA, and applicable electrical codesDevelop standard engineering solutions and best practices for future automation projectsLead complex automation and controls projects from concept through customer acceptanceManage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules and deliverablesAssist with project budgeting, forecasting, milestone tracking, and resource planningSupport project kickoff meetings and provide technical leadership throughout project executionCommunicate project status, risks, and technical challenges to stakeholdersAssist with milestone invoicing and project documentation as requiredServe as the primary technical contact for customers throughout project executionFacilitate design reviews with customers, suppliers, and internal departmentsTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues during system integration, commissioning, and startupProvide technical leadership and support to engineering, manufacturing, sales, service, and customer teamsAssist with technical proposals and solution developmentFollow and support ISO procedures and quality standardsContribute to the development of engineering standards, methodologies, and best practicesAssist with engineering change management and project closeout reviewsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfactionWhat Are the Requirements of the Job?Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related technical field required6–8 years of experience in PLC controls engineering, automation engineering, robotics, or related fieldExtensive experience programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI systemsExperience leading complex automation projects from design through startupExperience working directly with customers on technical projectsExperience in robotic automation systems preferredAdvanced Allen Bradley PLC programmingAdvanced Siemens PLC programmingHMI development and programmingSystem startup, commissioning, and debuggingIndustrial networking and communicationsElectrical troubleshooting and diagnosticsElectrical system designFuse and wire sizing calculationsElectrical schematic developmentControl panel designBill of Material (BOM) creationElectrical code complianceRobotic system integrationAutomated manufacturing systemsMotion control systemsIndustrial safety systemsValidation and verification testingStrong project management and organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong problem-solving and analytical abilitiesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyCustomer-focused mindsetNegotiation and conflict resolution skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong leadership and mentoring abilitiesAbility to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout engineering and manufacturing environmentsAbility to use hands for computer and technical workAbility to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlAbility to lift and move up to 50 lbs.Ability to travel frequently for customer support, installations, and project activitiesEngineering office, manufacturing facility, and customer site environmentsFrequent travel requiredOccasional exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, UV exposure, sparks, heat, fumes, and industrial environmentsModerate noise levelsOccasional exposure to hazardous materials, lubricants, solvents, cleaners, paints, and related industrial productsExperience with robotic automation systems and integrationKnowledge about robotic platformsProject management experienceExperience with ISO-compliant engineering environmentsStrong understanding of industrial automation safety standards and machine controlsHow to Apply And Next Steps?
