The ICU RN provides patient care using the nursing process and is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive care, document patient progress, and facilitate discharge with referrals and education. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and internal staff. Participate in unit goals through education, in-services, and quality initiatives. Provide care including IV management, pain control, ventilator support, cardiac monitoring, and more. Assist in procedures (e.g., thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement). Collaborate with support services like respiratory therapy, dietitians, and pharmacy.
