    K9s For Warriors is the nation’s largest provider of service dogs to veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Our unique, in-house program helps change the lives of American heroes by pairing them with a battle buddy, who was likely a rescue dog and then teaching him or her to utilize that dog to mitigate the symptoms of their wounds. In order to continue the great work we are doing, we are in need of an Operations Specialist to join our amazing team!

    Role and Responsibilities

    Under the general direction and supervision of the Operations Manager, the Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance, facility functions, and for creating and maintaining a clean and orderly environment of the K9s For Warriors campuses, including administrative offices and common areas.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities

    Perform minor and major maintenance of all buildings and equipment, unless out of scope of employee licensure or experience, as assigned through the maintenance ticketing systemMaintain an orderly workspace and maintenance areaMaintain each campus’ preventative maintenance schedule by performing regular tasks on buildings, vehicles, furniture, and equipment, including but not limited to: Replace filtersMaintain HVAC systemsRepair plumbing leaksPaint walls/ceilingsDiagnose problemsRepair or replace broken partsPressure wash, as neededAssist with housekeeping duties, as neededMaintain landscaping and landscaping equipment, should tasks be warranted and designated by the Director of Operation and/or Operations Manager for the specific campus and position (where applicable):Perform general landscaping services to include, but not limited to: mowing, edging/weed eating, pruning/trimming trees and shrubs, weed control, laying seed, spreading fertilizer; and using equipment such as a lawn mower, edger/weed eater, electric trimmer, blower, etc.Inspecting and fixing any irrigation systems, adjusting timer settings, recalibrating the system annually, and other tasks to ensure the system is properly working.Replace decorative landscaping (i.e. flowers) as needed, apply mulch for protectionGather and remove litter from propertyDiagnose mechanical failures and repair maintenance equipment according to manuals, factory specifications, and use of toolsAssist Director and/or Manager with all duties related to property and repairsPerform routine housekeeping duties, specific to each campus, as necessarySupport and communicate with campus teams during any construction projects, vehicle fleet repairs, preventative maintenance, as necessaryUnderstands proper utilization of PPE for applicable cleaning supplies and maintenance suppliesAssists in delivering heavy or bulk packages/items to various offices

    Other Duties

    As needed, assist with projects or events that may be hosted on or off siteAs assigned, meet with vendors regarding facility improvements, maintenance needs, and fleet repairsRotating weekends and holidays on-call

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the direction of the Assistant K9 Training Manager and general supervision of the assigned Lead K9 Trainer, the K9 Trainer is responsible for independently implementing all elements of assistance dog training, including reading dog body language, training procedures, environmental awareness, application of learning theory and related modalities, use of training equipment, training of K9s For Warriors (K9s) skills, dog evaluation, assessment, and reporting.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Independently modify dog behavior and train specific service dog tasks from basic to advanced obedienceTrain obedience and service tasks in alignment with a Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) based training philosophy.Maintain detailed training, evaluation, behavior modification and medical records in accordance with K9s’ policies and proceduresAnalyze and assess individual dogs; execute a tailored training program and assist with their care Provide public access exposure to Service Dogs in training Participate in impulse control, time outs, quiet kennels, temperament testing, group walks, and continuing education sessionsCoordinate, run, and supervise dog playgroups; evaluate dog’s stress levels, monitor for rude or aggressive behavior; identify when and how to interrupt inappropriate play.Liaise with kennel staff on assigned dog’s kennel behavior; coordinate dog procedure requests, feeding schedule and enrichment plans through K9 Training Management and Kennel Management; assist K9 Caretakers with cleaning kennels when neededAssist Warrior Trainers with identifying the correct Service Dog for each veteran, initial dog pairing, and provide training assistance through transference Participate in events, tours and media opportunities to demonstrate the dog’s trained skills to raise awareness and support fundraising and development endeavors.     Roles and Responsibilities

    The K9 Assistant Enrichment Manager is responsible for implementing, performing, and teaching personnel activities associated with accomplishing K9s kennel enrichment operations, in accordance with the standards and procedures established by K9s for Warriors.

    Essential Functions and Duties

    Details for this Position:

    This position is Full-time & Non-Exempt/hourly.

    This position requires:

    High school degree or equivalent Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating schedule Kennel experience preferred

    Basic Function

    The K9 Caretaker supports the proper operation of the kennels, to include cleaning/maintaining kennel facilities, feeding the dogs, caring for the dogs, and ensuring the overall safety of the kennel facilities and dogs.

    ** Shifts vary based on the needs of the kennel; to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating days off.

    Basic Function

    Under the direction of the Assistant Kennel Manager, the Lead K9 Caretaker will support the proper operation of the kennels by providing direction to the K9 Caretaker team and leading by example regarding day-to-day operations. The duties and tasks include cleaning and maintaining kennel facilities, feeding and caring for the dogs, supporting the K9 Caretaker staff, keeping Kennel Management updated and informed of issues and concerns, and performing all other tasks as assigned.

    Essential Functions and Duties

    Responsible for all cleaning, feeding, bathing and animal handling in accordance with K9s for Warriors policies and procedures, ensuring all kennel staff are in compliance.Ensure and assist in accuracy and compliance with safety procedures for all aspects of the kennels, with special emphasis on animal handling and cleaning chemicalsObserve, assess, and ensure all dog behavior and health concerns are dealt with in accordance with K9s for Warriors guidelines and best practices, reporting any concerns or changes to Veterinary team and Kennel Management.Participate and provide enrichment to dogs with direction from Enrichment team.     Under the direction of the K9 Procurement & Training Assistant Manager, the K9 Adoptions Trainer is responsible for implementing all elements of Behavior Modification, and Dog Training for the purpose of placing Dogs into permanent homes as pets and/or other positive outcomes.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
