Responsibilities and Duties:
An experienced concrete finisher directs and performs final sub-grade preparation and form construction for concrete placement on curb and gutters, sidewalks, aprons, slabs and walls. A finisher must be able to level, finish, cure, saw cut, groove, broom or rake finishes, and grind fresh concrete and similar materials according to specifications and drawings. Removes forms, loads and unloads equipment, tools and materials, and generally performs duties as required to satisfy the overall purpose of the job.
Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float. Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the various stages of the concrete throughout the entire process. Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or special tools to spread it. Produce various final finishes on concrete surfaces based of job specific requirements, using rough/fine brooms or special groove rakes.Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge. Clean chipped area, using wire brush, feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven. Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete on forms. Apply sealing compounds to cure surfaces on concrete. Operate power vibrator. Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools. Responsibilities and Duties:
The concrete laborer will assist with the demolition of current concrete structures, prepping pour sites, mixing concrete and placing concrete and rebar. Other duties include making concrete repairs, caulking expansion joints and finishing. Other duties and responsibilities include:
Grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accuratelyErect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces and other temporary structuresMix concrete and mortarClean construction site to eliminate possible hazardsAssist to align, straighten, plumb and square forms for installationConstruct forms, then assist in raising them to the required elevationInstall and tie rebar and wire meshInstall handrailsOperate heavy equipment and/or toolsLoad and unload trucks and haul and hoist materialsCare, clean and organize form material in shop, in truck and at the job siteInspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights and brakes in order to ensure that vehicles are in proper working orderLoad and unload trucks, vans and automobilesReport any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and /or equipment and immediately notify the foremanCheck fluid levels of all equipment and vehiclesLubricate and clean machinery, equipment and toolsUse power sprayer or washerKeep jobsite, trucks and equipment cleanReport any unsafe work practices or safety hazards encountered on the job to the ForemanOur Ideal Job Applicant:
