Head of Reconstruction
QUICK OVERVIEW - TL;DR (please read this section to ensure your fit before applying)
Our client is hiring a Head of Reconstruction to lead their commercial reconstruction department during a massive growth phase. This is a big opportunity - a true "seize the moment" executive role for someone ready to build, lead, and scale in one of the largest restoration markets in the country.
THE WHO: Our client is part of Paul Davis Restoration - a leader in the restoration and reconstruction space with nearly 400 branches serving residential and commercial customers across the United States and Canada. For over 50 years, Paul Davis has served communities in their time of need when facing disaster. This specific franchise operates in New York City and New Jersey - one of the largest markets in the Paul Davis network.
THE WHAT: You will lead the commercial reconstruction department as they aggressively expand into this vertical. We're looking for a true field general, executive-minded leader who thrives in the trenches, not behind a desk. You'll manage project managers, oversee complex commercial projects, and build the systems and processes needed to scale this department.
MUST HAVES: We need someone with construction/restoration experience who's been a project manager AND has moved beyond that into leadership roles. You need experience managing teams, building processes, and thinking like a business owner. This person must love being in the field - we're not looking for an administrator.
THE WHY: The restoration and reconstruction industry serves communities during their hardest moments - floods, fires, mold, emergencies. You'll be part of an organization that helps people get back in their homes and businesses, with a true phoenix-like mentality of rising from disaster.
THE WHERE: Service territory covers New York City (all boroughs) and New Jersey (Bergen, Essex, & Hudson Counties). Must be within 20 miles of territory or willing to relocate. Up to 75% travel to job sites required.
THE HOW: There are three key strategic initiatives this person will initially be tasked with:
Build and implement comprehensive training and development programs for project managers and construction teams to ensure consistent execution and skill development across all reconstruction projects.Establish quality assurance and process standardization across all reconstruction projects, implementing systems that ensure consistency, compliance, and profitability while maintaining the highest quality standards.Lead the expansion into commercial reconstruction opportunities while maintaining residential excellence, developing strategies and relationships that position the department for aggressive growth in the commercial sector.THE NUTS & BOLTS: Base salary of $75,000-$85,000 with commissions tied to every job performed in the branch. Total expected compensation of $120,000-$180,000+ (uncapped potential). Comprehensive benefits plus car allowance, phone allowance, and 401k match.

A CAREER-DEFINING OPPORTUNITY FOR A MOTIVATED, FIELD-FOCUSED EXECUTIVE
YOUR DNA
You are a Field General - not someone who manages from behind a desk. You thrive in construction sites, you get your boots dirty, you're hands-on with your teams. You understand that real leadership in construction happens where the work is being done.
You have an Executive Mindset - you think about P&L, you understand how your department impacts the entire business, and you make decisions like an owner. You don't just manage projects; you own outcomes.
You bring Operational Excellence - you're obsessed with building systems, implementing processes, and driving consistent execution. You know that great results come from great systems, and you're the person who builds those systems.
You are Accountability-Driven - you take ownership without excuses. When something goes wrong, your first instinct is "how do we fix this?" not "why this isn't my fault." You instill this mindset in everyone around you.
You're a Collaborative Problem-Solver - you work effectively across departments, balancing technical expertise with people skills. You understand that reconstruction doesn't happen in a vacuum.
You have Entrepreneurial Spirit - you see problems and proactively solve them. You don't wait for direction; you identify opportunities and build solutions. You thrive in ambiguity and love the challenge of building something from scratch.
