    At Johnson Controls Inc. (Albany Plant), we build custom high quality, commercial air handling units (AHU) from sheet metal. We are hiring for Class II AHU Fabricators on our 2nd shift team!

    What You Will Do

    Ensure hardware and components match Bill of Materials (BOM)

    Install components securely and ensure proper fit and alignment according to the Spec Sheet.

    Prepare product to be painted and shipped

    Install hardware and custom parts into assembly per specification for HVAC Units

    Identify proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheets and blueprints

    Utilize rivet gun, air gun, knife, welding and other hand tools to perform duties

    Operate bridge crane or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area

    Perform preventative maintenance and make minor machine repairs as needed

    Responsible for adhering to a production schedule, ensuring that all parts are properly fitted, aligned, and secured and ensuring that safety standards are always met

    Job Requirements

    Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints and build plans preferred

    Previous experience in an industrial setting a plus!

    What you will do
    As a Brazer, you will be responsible for performing a combination of welding and testing tasks to ensure conformance to specifications and continuous production consistent with established standards. You will typically weld similar materials together (mainly copper) using a filler material.

    How you will do it

    Perform a brazing using a gas torch welding similar materials together (mainly copper) using a filler material. Perform standard soft copper brazing in coils, headers, and partial valve pack materials following detailed work instructions, processes and procedures (written and verbal) to meet and exceed customer expectations. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, engineering drawings, and shop orders to weld coil units. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).

Packaging System Monitors equipment and controls of packaging machine, print and apply labeler, palletizing machine, and stretch wrap machine. Manually places literature and hanger hook into cartons. Maintains equipment performs required preventative maintenance per work instructions. Changes over equipment for various models. Inspects un-cartoned and packaged units and records results per first article instructions and/or work instructions if required; makes appropriate system adjustments as a result of the inspection process. Manually loads/unloads units onto/off of the conveyor in the event of a material handling equipment breakdown. Occasionally performs material handling duties (restocking parts, removing pallets, etc.). Other (As Needed) Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Supporting the training and development of peers within the organization. Environmental, Health, and Safety Obligations Comply with the following environmental, health, and safety duties as a condition of employment: Comply with safety rules Attend and participate in safety training Participate actively in the safety process Ask questions if something isn't known Report all accidents and injuries immediately Submit suggestions to improve safety Know responsibilities in the event of an emergency (i.e., what to do in the event of an alarm for fire, chemical spills, tornados, etc.) Be a coach to others who are acting unsafely Attend and participate in all hazardous and non-hazardous waste trainings. Ability to recognize chemical hazardous labels. Spill management and clean-up. Air shutoff locations. Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements. Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly. Hiring hourly range: training pay $23.90 certified pay $26.21 ($.50 shift differential paid for work performed during 2nd shift hours) (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
