    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Certified Medical Assistant in Occupational Health provides assistance in the examination and treatment of patients, under Physician/PhysicianAssistant/NursePractitioner supervision,in the ambulatory service clinical setting. Location is Bethesda, MD.

    Duties include: Chart review before patient clinical visit; assisting physician with procedures/treatments; equipment operation; assisting patients in preparation for examination/procedure; performs venipuncture; specimen collection and submission to appropriate laboratory; cleaning and sterilization of instrumentation;order and inventory supplies; records and documents in medical record; maintains examination/procedure room supplies; assists with efficient patient flow; assists with orientation of new staff; and participates in quality assurance programs.

    HOURS: Days 40 hours
    LOCATION: Suburban Hospital

    EDUCATION

    A high school degree or GED equivalent is required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE

    Familiarity with computer based patient appointment scheduling, registration systems and Electronic Health Record) strongly preferred.Medical terminology required.Familiarity with medication and vaccination administration required.Two years' experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred. Five or more years of specific applicable MA experience in primary medical care may be substituted for formal training program provided eligibility for RMA (American Medical Technologists) exam.
    Current MA certification must be maintained.
    CERTIFICATIONS
    Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certification Exam.Medical Assistant Certification required. CMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), RMA (American Medical Technologists), NRCMA (National Assoc. for Health Professionals) or NCMA (National Center Competency Testing), RCMAS (National Certification Medical Assoc.), or CCMA (National Health career Assoc.)Valid CPR or BLS certification required upon hire and recertification required every two years.

    Summary

    The ROI Supervisor, Health Information Management (HIM) under the leadership of the ROI Manager, the Supervisor will provide oversight and expert knowledge for operational workflow for the process of releasing medical records to, internal and external customers including regulatory agencies, law enforcement officers, patients, healthcare facilities and providers. The Supervisor will apply hospital and departmental policies and procedures, HIPAA Rules and Regulations, state (MD, DC, FL) and federal guidelines for all ROI workflow tasks. The Supervisor will provide leadership and support to the ROI Team Lead and the ROI Specialists for two or more Johns Hopkins Hospitals. The Supervisor will be responsible for managing medical records requests from regulatory agencies across all JHHS hospitals. The Supervisor will be the first level of escalation for customer service issues or concerns. In the absence of the ROI Manager, the Supervisor will perform the duties of the manager to include oversight of ROI vendor at all JHHS hospitals. The Supervisor will create a customer service environment to ensure the highest level of service to all customers.

    Education:

    Associate's Degree in Health Information Management; Bachelor's Degree preferred.

    Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

    Must obtain an active RHIT or RHIA credential from AHIMA within 9 months of hire

    Work Experience:
    5 years of HIM/ROI experience.HIM Leadership preferred.

    The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for supervising all employees on an assigned shift in Sterile Processing (SP), performing duties associated with cleaning, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, as well as storage and transport of specific instrumentation, surgical sets and patient care equipment, while incorporating safety and customer service expectations. May provide case picking education and training.     Summary:

    Under the direction of the Coordinator, Inpatient Education & Audits, the Coding Education Auditor, Inpatient will be responsible for assisting with developing all education and coding quality improvement initiatives for the Inpatient Coding Division at JHHS. The Coding Education Auditor, Inpatient is responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and resolving coding and documentation issues that are related to reimbursement, compliance, and revenue enhancement. The Auditor will perform focused second level coding quality reviews, as needed, to support improving coding quality for each inpatient Coding Specialist. The Auditor will document relevant trends of inaccurate coding and areas that are high risk for compliance issues to the Coordinator. The Auditor is responsible for offering recommendations for improvement to maintain a minimum of 95% coding quality across the JHHS enterprise. The Auditor will utilize the nThrive DNA learning management system to assist with coding education and skill development. This individual will assist with conducting investigation and research of existing policies, guidelines and precedent cases in publications such as Federal Register, AHA Coding Clinic, and AHIMA Journal to support internal policy development. Additional research will include AHRQ, RAC SOW, OIG Coding Compliance Plan and Correct Coding Initiative Guidelines to determine JHHS internal focused audits plan for the fiscal year. The Auditor will assist with special projects assigned by the Coordinator, Inpatient Education & audits.

    Education:

    Associate's degree in Health Information Management or health-care related field with required credentials, or work experience equivalent to two years of HIM inpatient coding experience, for one year of education experience, i.e. 4 years.

    Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:

    Requires Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification. RHIT or RHIA credentials preferred. Candidate will be required to pass AHIMA approved inpatient Coding Specialist IV assessment prior to hire.

    Work Experience:

    Requires minimum of 5 years inpatient coding experience required. 1 year of education, training and auditing experience preferred.

    Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 6 months in healthcare or office setting
    • Substantial interpersonal skills are needed to interact with patients, families and medical staff.
    • Ability to initiate and build positive relationships following Johns Hopkins Customer Service standards.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, proficiency with presentation and spreadsheet software preferred.
    • Ability to learn and incorporate a variety of clinical and administrative automated systems and software into daily work duties.

    Salary Range: Minimum 17.99/hour - Maximum 20.88/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
