Overview
The Secondary School Science Teacher is responsible for the education of each pupil in his or her charge while working collaboratively with students, parents, other teachers, and staff to achieve the school's mission.
Duties
Maintain a joyful, organized classroom
Maintain discipline that fosters a safe, positive, and structured learning environment
Collaborate with other faculty to implement curriculum, analyze student data and deliver appropriate instruction
Adapt teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and offer additional support according to the school MTSS framework
Lead implementation of middle school science curriculum and planning of AP-aligned high school curriculum in biology, chemistry, and physics.
Communicate professionally and regularly with students, families, and colleagues concerning student academic and behavioral progress and facilitate resolution of concerns
Attend and participate in all department meetings and implement teaching techniques and strategies learned
Demonstrate empathy and understanding of students and attend all meetings for additional student support
Education and Experience
Minimum Bachelor's degree for subjects taught along with passing Praxis required
Teaching experience in Grades 7-12 science preferred
Experience with AP curriculum preferred
Commitment to Core Knowledge and Classical Education
Experience in effectively solving challenging problems through a positive, collaborative approach
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
