    Job Description

    The Student Recruitment and Admissions Specialist (OA Specialist) plays a critical role in expanding the reach and impact of Job Corps / Equus Workforce Solutions. This position focuses on recruiting and admitting students to complete their high school education and pursue a technical career. It requires professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively with the community and potential program participants.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to increase awareness of workforce services and maximize community engagement.Create and manage professional social media content highlighting program achievements and relevant events.Produce high-quality content for multiple platforms, including websites, blogs, newsletters, and infographics, following company style guidelines.Conduct research and prepare evaluative reports on outreach campaigns to support strategic decision-making.Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations to promote program information and events, focusing on recruitment and awareness.Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information related to customers, employees, and partners.Adapt to changes in workload, emergencies, and staffing needs with professionalism and flexibility.Execute targeted recruitment initiatives for the Job Corps Program, identifying and engaging eligible youth.Conduct outreach activities in diverse settings, including communities, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events.Meet and exceed departmental and center goals, ensuring continuous improvement.Facilitate orientations and interviews with applicants, including parental involvement for minors, ensuring program understanding and eligibility.Deliver public presentations and orientation sessions to promote the program in schools, community events, and other venues.Manage applicant files with accuracy, including data entry and document scanning.Participate actively in departmental meetings and organizational updates.Coordinate travel arrangements for applicants to ensure a smooth transition into the program.Perform quality assurance checks on applicant files to maintain compliance and accuracy.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications

    Required Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or a related field.
    • At least 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
    • Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
    • Proficiency in social media, public relations, and marketing practices.
    • Exceptional writing skills.
    • Strategic thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital documentation tools.
    • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).

    Competencies

    • Ability and willingness to network extensively.
    • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
    • Computer proficiency; knowledge of software and networking systems preferred.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Excellent writing and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Minimum Eligibility Qualifications

    • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record if driving is required.
    • I‑9 documentation to verify authorization to work in the United States.
    • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check.

    Job Description

    Assess graduates' placement readiness and provide appropriate referrals and support services in accordance with DOL, Center, and Equus requirements.Ensure timely placement and retention of graduates in quality jobs, military, or further education, with a goal of 50% placement prior to separation.Develop and maintain relationships with employers, One-Stops, and State Employment Agencies to promote job opportunities.Conduct monthly follow-ups on graduates and former enrollees to provide ongoing placement services.Assist graduates with resume preparation, interview skills, and placement search strategies.Identify and make referrals to transitional support services necessary for successful placement and retention.Conduct weekly training workshops on career preparation topics and instruct Career Prep students.Document all placement services provided to graduates in case notes and verify placements with employers.Establish relationships with community colleges and other entities to ensure successful placements with good career pathway opportunities.Provide individualized services to Job Corps graduates and former enrollees during the prescribed service period.Develop and implement innovative strategies to increase graduate placement rates and job retention.Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless transition from training to employment for graduates.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor market trends and in-demand occupations to guide graduates effectively.Organize and participate in job fairs, both on-site and in the community, to connect graduates with potential employers.Monitor and report on placement outcomes, providing regular updates to management on progress towards goals.Assist in the development and implementation of alumni engagement programs to foster long-term success of graduates.Provide guidance on financial literacy and budgeting to help graduates manage their finances post-placement.Collaborate with local workforce development boards to align placement efforts with regional economic priorities.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field with two years of relevant experience.Experience working with young people aged 16-24, demonstrating leadership skills and excellent interpersonal abilities.Current certification under Puerto Rico Law 300 and a valid Puerto Rico Class 4 driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and present information clearly to diverse audiences.
