    Job DescriptionMechanical Engineer/Project Manager
    Must reside in the United States
    The ideal candidate for this role will live in Duluth/Hermantown, MN or the surrounding area. This is a hybrid position which will require working out of our Hermantown office.

    Roles, Responsibilities, and ExpectationsAdhere to the core values of Relationships, Communication, Solutions, Technical Proficiency, Quality, and Responsiveness as defined by JBW.Must have an entrepreneurial attitude and be willing to tackle different tasks as they arise.Provide Mechanical Engineering duties related to industrial facilities. These duties vary by project and current workload.Must be willing to work in daily collaboration with other JBW team members, and a variety of industrial clients.Perform site visits safely that range from 1-5 days, sometimes requiring travel (all expenses included). Travel is expected to be less than 10% annually but can vary in the short term based on project needs.Perform field verifications, identify and organize gathered field information.Complete and/or review drawings, calculations, equipment selection, and analysis accurately while following JBW's quality control methods.Assist with project reporting requirements and documentation.Provide oversight and guidance to entry level engineers and designers on project work.Build new and maintain existing relationships with clients, vendors, and external resources.Manage projects ranging in size from $5,000-$200,000.
    Minimum RequirementsBS Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program, or related field of study.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).Working understanding of mechanical systems, industrial environments, and heavy industrial constructionUpon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
    Desired Background and SkillProficiency working in CAD software including but not limited to Revit, AutoCAD 3D, Plant 3D, and Inventor.Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu software.Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examProfessional Engineering (PE) licensure
    Technical ProficiencyExperience working in industrial settings such as refineries, mines, power plants, etc.Experience with designing material handling systems.Experience developing drawing packages and specifications for contractors to build from.Knowledge of industry standards and codes.Ability to perform engineering analysis.
    Communication SkillsExcellent leadership, writing, and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, and proposals to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams

    Pay: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year

    Roles, Responsibilities, and Expectations
    Uphold JBW's core values of Relationships, Communication, Solutions, Technical Proficiency, Quality, and Responsiveness in all aspects of work.Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to take on diverse tasks across projects and disciplines.Design low and medium voltage power distribution systems for industrial facilities, from utility service entrances down to final motor and instrument loads, ensuring compliance with NEC and client-specific standards.Conduct electrical studies including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and arc flash assessments using software such as SKM Power Tools.Specify and select electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relays, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to meet technical and project requirements.Coordinate closely with mechanical, structural, and controls engineers to ensure cohesive and practical facility-wide system designs.Provide technical support through all phases of the project lifecycle: field investigations, design, construction, commissioning, and client handover.Manage scope, budgets, and schedules while balancing multiple projects in parallel.Travel up to 25% to industrial sites, client offices, or project locations as needed for site investigations, coordination, or commissioning support.
    Desired Background and Skills
    Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with coursework focused on power systems.Working experience in industrial power systems design, maintenance, construction.5+ years of relevant experience
    License/Certification:Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
    Technical Proficiency:Designing industrial scale electrical systems from utility connections down to motors and instruments.Performing electrical studies such as load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and arc flash studies using software packages like ETAP, EasyPower, or SKM.Specifying electrical equipment including switchgear, protection relays, circuit breakers, fuses, cables, raceway, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
    Regulatory Compliance:In-depth understanding of industry codes and standards including National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).Experience with regulatory compliance assessments and ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards in power system designs.
    Communication Skills:Excellent leadership, writing, and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.Ability to- prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, and proposals to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
