Visiting Instructor, Art Foundations
Jacksonville State University is seeking applicants for a Visiting Instructor of Art Foundations. The Visiting Instructor of Art Foundations in the Department of Art and Design is a temporary, non-tenure-track position that provides educational support to freshman and sophomore art students pursuing BFA and BA degree paths. Responsibilities include serving as the Foundations Area Coordinator for the Department of Art and Design and teaching a 4/3 course load, including Drawing, Design, Digital Literacy, and Portfolio Review.
The Department of Art + Design at Jacksonville State University, is accredited by NASAD, and offers an MFA in Visual Communication Design and BA and BFA degrees in Studio Art and Art History with concentrations in Ceramics, Illustration, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, and Printmaking. The department also offers minors in Studio Art, Photography, and Art History.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of critical issues in higher education as they relate to the freshman experience and student retention. Strong drawing and design skills; ability to teach foundational studio practices and prepare students for advanced work in their concentration areas. Ability to coordinate the efforts of Graduate Teaching Assistants and full- and part-time instructors to deliver engaging and supportive learning experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires an MFA from a regionally accredited institution.

Assistant Professor, Music Theory
The David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in music theory beginning August 2025. The primary duties of the successful candidate will be to teach courses in the core undergraduate Music Theory curriculum. The Department welcomes applications from candidates qualified to teach in the Western classical canon. Other teaching areas may include non-Western music and/or popular or commercial music. The successful candidate will accomplish scholarly/creative activity sufficient for tenure and advancement and engage in appropriate service.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate must have a doctorate in music theory or a related field. ABD will be considered, with the expectation that the degree will be completed on or before August 1, 2025. Job Summary:
The Temporary Child Development Center Assistant will obtain work experience on campus in the JSU Child Development Center. Duties may include assisting staff with preparation for classroom instruction, departmental operational needs, or performing administrative and other support duties as required. The Temporary Child Development Center Assistant will assist with creating and developing lesson material, games and manipulatives for the preschool class.
