    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJacksonville Orthopaedic Institute is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at the Beaches office. The position is full-time with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and 401K retirement plan.Location: 1577 Roberts Dr., Suite 225, Jacksonville Beach. FL 32250Schedule: Monday- FridayEssential Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with orthopedic physicians and physician assistants to coordinate the care and needs of patients.Assist with clerical duties such as completing forms and charting.Check physician schedules and prepare charts for needed test results.Organize patient flow to keep physician on schedule.Assist patients to exam room, collect patient history, and conduct screening per physician guidelines.Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.Answer patient phone calls and give instructions at the direction of the physician.Document phone calls and prescription refills.Maintain clean exam rooms and instruments following infection control guidelines.Follow bio-hazardous waste standards.Restock exam rooms and maintain medical supplies.Follow universal precautions when assisting with patient care.Maintain strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.Clerical and computer duties are required to complete forms and charting.Other duties as assigned. Position RequirementsValid Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA).Valid CPR certification.High School Diploma or GED required.Minimum 1-2 years Medical Assistant experience.Orthopaedic experience a plus.Proficiency with triaging patient care issues.Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinic.Knowledge of HIPAA and safety guidelines/regulations.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Computer proficient.Working ConditionsFast paced orthopedic medical practice environment. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Physical Demands Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking and sitting. Requires pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPhysician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner/Beaches clinicExcellent opportunity for a dynamic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team of highly trained Orthopedic Surgeons at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute. We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with Orthopedic Hand experience. Our PA/APRN will provide comprehensive patient care; see new patients and follow up with patients in the orthopedic surgery clinic. Qualified candidates must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively within a team.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of assigned Physician(s), provide initial and ongoing assessment of patient’s medical, physical and psychosocial status, including: conduct history and physical; develop treatment plan, provide education, perform rounds; record progress notes; order tests, examinations, and non-pharmaceutical therapies; write discharge summary. Apply/Remove orthopedic splints or casts for closed fractures and severe sprains.Suture lacerations and provide wound care.Wound care debridement.Prescribe outpatient medications (In accordance with FL Admin Code 64B8-30.007-8).Local infiltrative anesthesia administration.First/Second Surgical Assistant.Pre- and post-operative surgical care.Assist physicians with group call, responding timely to pages at any time of day/night.Maintain OSHA and HIPAA regulations.Maintain a clean working environment and properly operating equipment.Use accepted infection control techniques to provide appropriate patient care.Adhere to safety guidelines, including wearing protective equipment when appropriate.Provide exceptional service to all of our patients.Treat everyone with respect, courtesy, and friendliness.Exhibit professionalism and ethical behavior at all times.Adhere to all policies and procedures for our organization.Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and business within the organization’s policies.Communicate recommendations on improvements of policies and procedures to management team.Participate in committees, discussions and other team functions.Provide additional duties as may be assigned.Position Requirements Education: Degree with completion of a program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).Licensure: Successful completion of Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE). 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years. Successful completion of recertification examination every 6 years.Experience: Prefer one year minimum in an orthopedic clinical setting.Machines/Equipment: Computer proficient. EMR experience preferred.Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills. Effective interpersonal skills.Working Conditions Fast paced orthopedic medical office. Exposure to some communicable diseases, body fluids, and bio-hazardous materials. Requires flexible work schedule as work load varies from day to day and time of day.
