    Position Summary:

    The Outside Plant Construction Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance of a Fiber Optic network. In this role, our construction technicians move and replace vaults, dig in new conduit or vaults, relocate new conduit and fiber, locating cables and conduit for added properties.  

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Maintain existing and construct new plant as follows:Dig either by hand or with use of trenching machine to place cable underground.Pull fiber-optic cable through conduit. Remove and replace hand holes and fiber markers.Repair damaged underground plant as need arises. Installation, repair, and maintenance of inside fiber optic cables and MDU boxes. Based on locate tickets from Sunshine One-Call, accurately locate and mark existing underground fiber cables to protect plant as needed.Ensure customer satisfaction by providing quality service and identifying customer needsEnsure compliance with OSHA safety standards and state and local regulationsAssist in fiber cable damage restoration efforts.Assist with and troubleshoot systems, as necessary.Other job duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Ability to construct small networks for MDU, and public spaces using off the shelf solutions to meet demand.Ability to think strategically and execute tactically while delivering results in a high-change, fast-paced work environment.Ability to collaborate and partner with various teams across the organization to drive initiatives and results.Proven ability to deliver expected performance results and ability to drive to the next level.Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, written, communication and presentation skills.Must be available and willing to respond to the needs of a 24/7 operation.Must be willing and able to work mandatory overtime after hours and weekends and remain in service during outages until resolved.Work independently using sound judgement on all projects.Full accountability in safety, productivity, quality, workmanship, and customer serviceAbility to effectively solve problems with little or no direction.Computer skills sufficient to learn new applications and systems.Use excellent hearing and listening skills to receive detailed information.Ability to drive during nighttime and adverse weather conditions.Must have valid driver’s license with a clear MVR.Must be able to pass standard background check and drug screening.Must be able to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.Must be able and willing to climb ladders up to 28 ft.Must be able and willing to work in adverse weather conditions.Maintain vehicle in a clean and professional manner.Dress in approved IQ Fiber clothing and arrive at work in a neat and professional manner.

    PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or GEDA minimum of one (1) year telecommunications construction experience preferred. Must be able to work outside in all elements of weather

    The Supervisor balances daily workload, arranges resources to meet demand, performs technical field work when needed, and responds to escalations.     Essential Duties and Responsibilities
