    Job Description

    We are seeking a Senior Fund Accountant to oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and operational activities of multiple private equity funds. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for fund financial statements, capital account maintenance, carried interest and waterfall calculations, portfolio valuations, cash management, performance reporting, and audit and tax coordination. The ideal candidate will have strong private equity fund accounting expertise, advanced analytical skills, and a collaborative mindset to support process improvements, mentor team members, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver accurate reporting to management, investors, and other stakeholders.

    This role will be dedicated to one of our premier clients. A successful candidate will be located in the Chicago area and be able to work in office up to 4 days a week. 

    What you’ll do

    You'll prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements for multiple private equity funds, including capital account maintenance, carried interest accounting, waterfall calculations, and reporting for fund, GP, and related entities.You'll interpret and implement accounting requirements from Limited Partnership Agreements, perform portfolio company valuations, and produce investment performance reports, including IRRs and portfolio analytics.You'll manage daily fund cash operations, including capital calls, distributions, wire processing, bank reconciliations, and line of credit compliance, while ensuring accurate financial records.You'll collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, Investor Relations, and internal stakeholders to support audits, tax reporting, fundraising due diligence, and other accounting and administrative activities.You'll drive continuous improvement by leveraging technology and automation to enhance reporting processes, mentoring junior accounting team members, and ensuring compliance with SEC Registered Investment Adviser policies and annual testing requirements.

    You hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong academic record and 4 plus years of partnership accounting experience, preferably within the private equity industry.You bring a CPA designation or experience in public accounting and/or fund administration, which is highly preferred.You possess advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate new database systems and financial technologies.You demonstrate exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and reading comprehension skills, with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and high-quality financial reporting.You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence and professionalism to collaborate with stakeholders and review the work of other accounting team members.

    As a senior manager on our fund administration team, you’ll work directly with leading private equity and hedge funds clients, supporting fund operations, financial reporting, and investor communications under the guidance of our experienced team. You’ll oversee client deliverables, review complex fund calculations and financials, manage audits, train junior staff, and drive process improvements across multiple engagements.
