    Interstate Power Systems is looking for an experienced Transport Refrigeration Technician that requires extensive knowledge of Carrier and/or Thermo-King refrigeration units. If you have performed all levels of maintenance services on Carrier and/or Thermo-King refrigeration units designed for commercial trucks, vans, and trailers then we want to talk to you!

    We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transport Refrigeration Technician/Mechanic to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to install, maintain, and repair Carrier or Thermo-King refrigeration systems and or other transport refrigeration equipment used in various industrial and commercial settings. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Carrier and/or Thermo-King refrigeration systems and possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

    Refrigeration Technician/Mechanic Job Duties

    Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all Carrier and/or Thermo-King refrigeration units.Accurately and efficiently diagnose complex engine conditions and make necessary repairs.Communicate effectively with peers, foreman, and service team regarding those repairs.Quality control work performed to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.Keep paperwork updated and handed in upon completion.Meet requirements for certifications.

    Refrigeration Technician/Mechanic Position Requirements

    Valid Driver's license (Bonus compensation for CDL holders)Must possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude, and be reliable.Must possess an excellent understanding of Carrier and/or Thermo-King Refrigeration units.Other mechanical skills desired but not essential: Hydraulics, Brakes & Suspension, Manual Transmissions and drive train, automatic transmissions.This is an atmosphere that is driven by customer satisfaction, accuracy of diagnostics, and efficient repairs.     What You’ll Work On

    Interstate Power Systems is hiring Mid-Level and Experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Technicians at our Altoona, Iowa location. This opportunity is ideal for diesel mechanics with hands-on experience working on on-highway heavy-duty diesel trucks, including Detroit Diesel engines (Series 60 and newer), Cummins, CAT, PACCAR, International, and related platforms.

    Our technicians service Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Mack, and other heavy-duty truck manufacturers. We offer a stable work environment, OEM training, manufacturer certifications, and clear career growth opportunities.

    What You’ll Do

    Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel trucks and componentsPerform advanced diesel diagnostics on engines, electrical systems, and aftertreatmentRepair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, driveline, and chassis systemsCommunicate repair findings clearly with service writers and shop leadershipComplete quality repairs to maximize equipment uptimeAccurately document labor, parts, and completed work

    What We’re Looking For

    Experience as a Diesel Technician or Heavy-Duty Diesel MechanicStrong working knowledge of Detroit Diesel (Series 60) and Cummins enginesElectrical and diagnostic troubleshooting experienceValid driver’s license required (CDL holders eligible for additional pay)Experience with Allison transmissions, CAT, International, PACCAR, or similar OEMs preferred
