    Business Development Specialist I

    The Business Development Specialist I drives profitable existing account growth with a strategic group of customers as well as new business acquisitions within their assigned territory. They are the primary sales leader in the Distributor and must collaborate well with their team.

    Job Components:

    Identify, qualify, pursue, and land new Traditional Independent Licensed Dealer (ILD) and Non-Mandated National Account Customers (NAC) for the Distributor.Travel regularly within the assigned territory to engage with dealers.Physically set up new customers with racks, batteries, point of purchase, and testers, ensure they are on route, have proper documentation, and have answered all their questions related to our program, our product, and the services we provideEducate dealers on all relevant programs, products, development opportunities, and available training Interstate provides.Develop your assigned customer list of 100 +/- identified growth dealers.Maintain relationships with new and existing dealers through in-person meetings, site visits, and networking events.Execute business reviews on growth dealers as required, including current performance, opportunities identified, and recommended plans to capitalize on opportunities.Assist with any additional dealer visits beyond growth dealers as needed.Leverage Salesforce daily for prospecting, pipeline development, documenting activity, and closing/winning business.Communicate pricing actions to operation dealers (Review monthly Gross Profit report and react when required).Assist with Accounts Receivable collection calls/customer visits as needed.Maintain a minimum of 40 in-person sales calls per week, including a blend of prospecting for new business, proposal presentations, and existing dealer calls focused on identifying opportunities to help them grow,Visit NAC dealer locations within the market based on the needs of the company.Meet or exceed established targets, including new unit sales production, growth dealer goals, and average price per unit sold.Respond to and manage dealer issues and complaints.Collaborate with internal teams, including Market General Managers, Assistant Market General Managers, Route Sales Managers, as well as Office and Warehouse Team Members to ensure customer satisfaction and account growth.

    Qualifications:

    1-2 years of Business-to-Business sales experience preferred.Proven experience in outside sales, business development, or field-based account management is a plus.Bachelor's degree preferred.Demonstrated ability to lead and develop sales.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent customer service skills coupled with a results-driven mindset.Strong negotiation and closing skills with the ability to meet or exceed sales quotas.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while covering designated area.Concise and professional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.Experience with MS Office and Excel required.Experience with Salesforce, Concur, Workday, and/or Tableau preferred.Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with frequent travel.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

    Scope Data:

    Cover a designated geographic territory, with frequent travel to customer sites.Interface with various internal departments and external customers.Model Interstate's Purpose and Values.Compensation includes base salary + commission structure, with earnings tied to sales performance.Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

    Work Environment:

    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.Frequent sitting and standing for up to 8 hours a day.Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk.Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Exposed to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.Flexible work schedule based on client availability, including occasional evening or weekend events.

    Purpose of Job

    The Sales Associate provides fast and friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. This role maintains the condition of the sales floor, ensuring that it is clean and shoppable. They will also make deliveries and test/install car batteries.

Purpose Of Job Drive growth through business acquisition and development of existing dealers Job Components Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the fiscal year that drive incremental units and average PPU in line with operations targets. Develop, implement, and execute action plans tied to focus 50 accounts that improve the customers' business, retain them for IB long term, and drive growth for them and the servicing operation. Visits to each of these accounts to include identifying opportunities, aligning on and developing action plans for improvement, providing the dealer training needed to execute, or reviewing results expected. Focus 50 calls occur bi-monthly with each dealer. Balanced weekly sales plan developed and mapped out by EOB Friday for the following week. The weekly sales plan includes a mix of new business opportunities, focus 50 visits, eroding and lost dealers, new dealer set-ups, new dealer follow-ups, and other stops as requested by the MGM. A sales plan of 10 daily calls is mapped out, and a minimum of 40 activities are logged in Salesforce weekly. Target a 60/40 mix of new business calls and existing account development each week. Daily prospecting on fresh leads to identify new opportunities to continually fill your pipeline with a target of 10 added weekly. Daily presentations to active opportunities already qualified to close new business. Prospecting and existing customer calls are planned close to these scheduled appointments for efficient route planning and maximizing face time. Consistent communication with operation MGM and others within the organization on their plan, results, needs, and challenges. Begin each week with a plan review. Provide updates daily on conversations including wins and next steps either in person or over the phone. Close each week by recapping the results of the week's activity including existing account visits, wins, losses, new opportunities, next steps, and assistance needed. Consistent in updating Salesforce activity as calls are made and populate all required fields including segment, competitor, and volume. In addition to notes logged on that day's activity, it's also critical to log and schedule your future tasks on all calls. Review and contact all Web Leads in que and communicate with your BDM on any Regional leads identified. The pipeline is updated weekly to remain organized and ensure proper follow-up/execution. Qualifications High school graduate (or equivalent); 2- or 4-year college degree in a related field preferred. 1 year of Business-to-Business sales experience preferred.
