The primary duty of the Customs Entry Writer is to support the Brokerage Team by processing customs clearance documents and filing ISF filings timely and accurately.
Since this position is primarily to review, submit and monitor various customs clearance documents, with other duties required, the right candidate must be comfortable working independently while under supervision.
Role and Responsibilities :
● Review entry documents for accuracy and communicate documentation discrepancies to supervisor and/or controlling branch if something is missing or incomplete.
● Process various customs clearance documents through the Company’s ABI system, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate and advise interested parties of such releases.
● Provide Entry Summary and Cargo Release documents to appropriate branch.
● Review and monitor all customs rejections, requests for information and any other government agency correspondences and address them timely and appropriately under supervision.
● Must have knowledge of HTSUS & PGA/OGA.
● Maintain and keep current all customs compliance documentation.
● Maintain up-to-date customer records in ABI software system.
● Onboard new client details into the ABI software system.
● File ISF’s in a timely manner.
● Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines, such as the Code of Conduct, work schedule, and attendance requirements.
● Some Invoicing required.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
This position reports to the Licensed Customs Brokerage Manager of the company.
Qualifications :
● At Minimum 2-3 years of entry writing experience.
● Ability to Classify and take Customs Bonds
● Familiar with ABI software applications.
● Ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver a high-level service.
● Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
