    Background Information:
    This full-time position will serve as a member of the PCDS team within the Range Systems Branch at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland. This position will provide software engineering support to multiple projects at ATR. As a key member of a small team, you will play a vital role in the entire software development lifecycle from planning and design, development, testing, documentation, and user support. The Computer Scientist, Journeyman will work in a rewarding technical environment at the forefront of Naval Test & Evaluation (T&E) supporting the needs of today's warfighter and beyond. Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for assigned projects
    • Design, develop, test, and document software solutions
    • Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure project success
    • Provide technical support and guidance to users, both in-person and remotely
    • Conduct independent research to resolve complex technical issues
    • Work effectively in both individual and team environments
    • Utilize debugging tools and techniques within Visual Studio to identify and resolve software defects
    • Maintain proficiency and adapt quickly to new technologies, including working within an environment with limited internet access while on travel Note: This job description describes the general nature of the duties and requirements of the job.     • BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering from a school where the degree curriculum was accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
    • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience performing the stated or similar function
    • In lieu of a BS Degree, a High School diploma or equivalent GED and a total of nine (9) years of work experience performing the stated or similar function is required
    • CompTIA Security+ certification is desired
    • Proven experience with C++, JAVA, or other non-interpreted object-oriented programming languages
    • Experience using Git version control
    • Proven ability to work well with a team of software engineers with specifications, designs, technologies, and operational implementations of software solutions
    • Able to work within a large existing code base
    • General networking skills required
    • Should have familiarity with Windows development environments (Visual Studio, etc.)
    • Must have general computer maintenance skills (hardware/software installation and troubleshooting)
    • Knowledge of Windows Operations Systems is required
    • Should be self-motivated, able to work independently, and ask questions as needed with the ability to leverage the internet to locate resolutions to problems
    • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass drug screenings Clearance Requirements:
    • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
    • Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance. Work Conditions:

    This position supports the Radar Cross Section Team within the Aircraft Signature & Avionics Measurement Branch of the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) at Patuxent River, Maryland.     • Minimum of 3 years as a junior engineer in RCS engineering, focusing on development, testing, or evaluation of RCS instrumentation systems with emphasis on microwave radar devices and circuits.
    • Experience in preparing technical test plans, conducting radar signature tests, certifying measurement systems, planning logistics, and analyzing radar signature data.
    • Demonstrate familiarity with RCS characteristics of various targets (fixed-wing jets, propeller aircraft, rotary-wing aircraft, surface targets, and chaff countermeasures), including RCS amplitude, statistical distribution, modulation characteristics, ISAR imagery, and downrange profiles.
    • Understanding of coherent radar processing, Doppler radar, and RCS measurements.
    • Ability to identify RCS anomalies as genuine features or artifacts and assess signal and system status.
    • Proficient in using MATLAB for processing, displaying, and analyzing radar phenomenology.
    • Experience with development of new capabilities or improvements to RCS measurement systems.
