General Description:
Routinely monitors the process to ensure reliable operation with respect for safety and manufacturing cost. Engineer recommends and sponsors process changes with-in the normal operating range to minimize cost and downtime. Engineer will sponsor and champion changes using the MOC system to make changes outside of the normal operating range. Engineer will develop, design, and implement process changes to fully utilize and optimize the operating unit. Engineer will assist manufacturing efforts involved in production planning, unit strategy, and unit training.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Provides a technical resource for process operations
• Supports daily unit optimization efforts working with the unit teams
• Supports emergency/after-hour operations that require troubleshooting and corrective recommendations
• Identifies turnaround scope and participate in reviews as needed
• Participates in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) as needed
• Adheres to the Management of Change (MOC) process for field/shop modifications and operating parameter changes
• Provides process training assistance to unit team as requested
• Be a key contributor to variable cost and process reliability improvements
• Develops and issues process designs for optimization and process improvement projects
• Tracks and monitors performance against variable cost plans and objectives
• Develops and oversees test plans for variable costs and process improvement ideas
• Lead process safety incident investigations, release quantity calculations, relief valve scenario development, relief valve sizing, and relief system design modifications
• Assure process performance of key pollution control devices to ensure environmental permit compliance
• Work in process unit areas, accessing multiple elevations by ladders and stairs with potential to where additional layers of PPE as required including respirators, face shields, double hearing protection and slicker suits; for purposes of process learning and optimization

Roles and Responsibilities
Leads the maintenance training coordination and the maintenance component of the Process Safety Management outlined in OSHA 1910.119
