    About the Illinois State Dental Society Founded by dentists in Chicago in 1865, the Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS) continues every year to build on its impressive history through achievements that not only improve the oral health of the public we serve, but also enhance the profession of dentistry and its membership at large. Past leaders in the state and local dental societies have paved the way for their successors to enjoy a bright future in organized dentistry. The Illinois State Dental Society is made up of seven downstate districts and the Chicago District. The seven downstate districts are geographically divided while the Chicago Dental Society (CDS) has nine branches. From the seven downstate districts and the nine branches of CDS, ISDS elects its officers and trustees to administer the business of the Society. In addition to representing the membership of ISDS throughout the state, the Illinois State Dental Society is the fifth largest membership state in the country, with the second highest market share amongst the five largest states. At the national level, Illinois is well represented and respected over the years with its members holding officer and chair positions at various levels within the American Dental Association (ADA). Membership Marketing Manager Job Summary The Illinois State Dental Society is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Membership Marketing Manager to develop and implement recruitment, retention and engagement strategies for all segments of ISDS membership. A sales-focused and marketing-oriented individual would be well suited for this position. This position will serve as the primary liaison between ISDS and the three Illinois dental schools and students, as well as providing support to member volunteers and the twenty-two local dental societies throughout the state. The ideal candidate is a highly professional and personable self-starter who is able to complete tasks in an efficient manner and work comfortably with Society leaders, dental school administration, and ADA staff and leadership. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Member Recruitment and Retention Duties Develop and implement membership recruitment and retention plans to successfully increase membership. Maintain focus on all membership categories, while differentiating strategies for all dentists, hygienists and allied members. Develop relationships with the local dental societies in Illinois, three Illinois dental schools, Membership Committee, New Dentist Committee, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee to aid in membership recruitment, retention and engagement of Illinois dentists. Develop programs and procedures and personally contact non-renewing members, non-members, and current members. This includes an in-house calling campaign for recruitment/renewals and to ensure up-to-date member information. This will include cold calling of nonmembers to recruit into membership and highlight member benefits. Help on the phone with members and nonmembers looking to renew their membership Work with the ADA Client Services department on implementation of national strategies and programs at the state and local levels. Develop specific strategies for the New Dentist and Dental Student segments of membership. Plan events and conferences targeted to new and early career dentists. Make routine visits to Illinois' three dental schools, arrange presentations and facilitate signing day to transition new graduates into ISDS membership. Build and maintain positive relationships with faculty and administration at all three dental schools. Marketing Duties Collaborate in the development of resources, publications, and marketing communications targeted to various segments of the ISDS membership and nonmembers. Collaborate with ISDS departments on a regular basis in planning and implementing membership campaigns and programs to highlight awareness on the benefits of membership. Work closely with the Member Benefits Committee and interact with endorsed vendors to align ISDS benefits to member needs. This will include the marketing of endorsed vendors to targeted segments of ISDS members and nonmembers. Regularly market and actively incentivize members to enroll in the ISDS autorenewal program for membership dues. Support the annual membership dues renewal process, aiding in the segmenting, messaging, and timing of marketing renewal efforts. Committee Duties Act as staff liaison for the Membership Committee, New Dentist Leadership Development Committee and Diversity, Equity Inclusion Committee. Staff liaison duties include: Working with committee chairs to schedule meetings, set agendas and prepare meeting materials. Take meeting minutes and prepare reports for the Board of Trustees. Present reports and explain committee recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Being familiar with ISDS policies, bylaws, and practices applicable to these committees. Assist and guide the Membership Committee in developing a strategic plan. Most committees meet 2 or 3 times per year, depending on the specific committee. Approximately 1 meeting per year is in person, while the others are typically held virtually. Committee meetings, if preplanned with advanced notice, are to be held during standard working hours, but may occasionally need to be held in the evening to accommodate our member/volunteer's work schedules. Travel Travel for the following annual meeting is expected: ISDS Annual Session – within Illinois – 3 nights CDS Midwinter Meeting – Chicago – 2 nights ADA Management Meeting – Chicago – 2 nights Dental school visits – 2 – 6 nights per year – this will vary Additionally, there will be day trips to the dental schools New Dentist events – 1 – 2 nights per year – this will vary Other events may arise as needed – advance notice will be given Internal/Society Duties Update ISDS staff and applicable ISDS Committees on certain membership campaigns Provide assistance to other departments of ISDS and ISDS events on an as-needed basis Meet regularly with the ISDS Public Relations Firm to strategize on current membership and endorsed vendor initiatives Other duties as assigned. The Membership Marketing Manager's office will be located at the Illinois State Dental Society office in Springfield, IL. Occasional remote work is available. Education, Experience and Skills ·Bachelor's degree required Three-years of relevant work experience required Marketing, business development or association experience preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software Ability to identify and translate goals and objectives into strategies A passion for service and collaboration Compensation and Benefits The Membership Marketing Manager's position is exempt. This position is salaried, and no overtime pay is provided. Additional work hours may be required to complete projects/requests in a timely manner and may involve overtime.
