PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop, program, evaluate, troubleshoot, and recommend CNC machine tools, utilizing personal computers, CAM software, and DNC systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop efficient CNC programs and related materials using tool drawings, fixture drawings, part prints, and associated documents. Work with operators, lead people, supervisors, manufacturing engineers, and other internal and external resources to optimize old and new processes and assist in training of these processes. Recommend new or revised tooling, fixtures, equipment, software, and process improvements to support efficient operations. Conduct special studies, assist with capital research, serve on special teams, and provide support for Statistical Process Control (SPC) or other quality initiatives as required. Proactively communicate operations, problems, and opportunities as they arise. Take positive action to advance personal knowledge of manufacturing technology, CNC programming, CAM software, DNC technology, and related information. Maintain appropriate records and documentation to assist in the control and evaluation of programming operations. Assist in the development of a safe working environment through the use of occupational safety and health standards, including ergonomic principles. Other related duties as required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required. Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Automation, or related AA or AS degree preferred. Training or experience working with CAM software required; EdgeCam preferred. Varied CNC operating experience desirable. SUMMARY The CNC Operator I is an entry level position responsible for overseeing the basic CNC operation and inspection of machined parts. Duties include operating CNC lathes and milling machines, preparing and loading of parts and daily inspection and maintenance to ensure all quality requirements are met. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Perform in-process inspection of machine parts to ensure manufacturing adherence to all quality regulations. Measure and check dimensions and tolerances using measuring devices, including (but not limited to) calipers, micrometers and gauges. Perform daily maintenance on CNC machinery. Conduct routine inspection and replace worn-out tooling as needed. Maintain a clean and safe workplace. Perform daily 6S activities to ensure organization and cleanliness of work area. Perform necessary transactions in ERP system to maintain accurate inventory. Other duties as assigned.
