    Job Summary:

    Burial Technicians are responsible for carefully and efficiently burying service drop cables for our residential and commercial customers as well as teaming with i3 Broadband construction and maintenance crews on other miscellaneous projects on the underground fiber optics network.

    Duties/Responsibilities:Bury fiber optic cable lines 6" to 24" deep using hand trenching or drop plows with boring capabilities. Read and understand existing underground facility location information. Identify and locate unmarked utilities.Actively identify and eliminate risk of injury or damage.Restore job site, including landscaping to the original condition.Review all requested and existing services with the customer before installation of new lines.Communicate in a thorough and professional manner with homeowners, customers, and other contractors regarding cable burials, restoration, and light landscaping. Work closely with drop burial crew leader to establish and maintain efficient daily and weekly production of cable burials.Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to work well with others as part of a team.Must be computer proficient.Positive, can-do attitude. Willingness and desire to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality results. Possess good time management skills.Must enjoy working outside. Willing to train, accept feedback, and learn the job according to i3 standards.Must be available to work occasional overtime and some weekends (as needed).Other duties as assigned.Must have a valid driver's license.Education/Experience:No prior experience is necessary, however any demonstrated interest or aptitude for hands-on work, physical work, or working with cable or electrical components is preferred.     Utility Locating Technicians protect underground i3 Broadband fiber-optic utilities from damage during projects involving digging or excavation. Utility locators pinpoint the paths of cables and conduits that carry utilities underground. Their work takes them through easements as underground utilities pass through neighborhoods and beneath the property of homeowners.

    Duties/Responsibilities:Safely, accurately, and efficiently locate all underground i3 Broadband fiber-optic utilities. Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area; Identify and locate and accurately mark the utility location.Complete necessary work for the entire extent provided by locating tickets issued by JULIE and documenting all work on an internal i3 Broadband work ticket. Photograph each locate and upload photographs to necessary systems. Communicate professionally and courteously with utility managers, work crews, i3 staff, homeowners, and contractors to discuss and resolve locate issues. Prioritize work by reviewing locate requests to determine efficient routing and planning; Work closely with manager to establish and maintain efficient daily work schedules.Use a company laptop to document and close all work orders/service requests. Maintain company vehicle in clean condition and in good working order. Report any issues with vehicles or equipment to management for resolution. Perform other duties as requested.
