This role translates complex electrical, mechanical, firmware, and software-integrated systems into clear, accurate, and usable documentation for internal teams and external customers. The position partners closely with Engineering, Product Management, Field Services, Quality, and Support to ensure documentation reflects real-world installation, commissioning, operation, and service requirements.
Core Responsibilities
Develop and maintain product documentation including specifications, architecture overviews, installation manuals, commissioning guides, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, fault isolation flows, interface documentation (APIs, telemetry, DCIM/BMS), and release notes.Establish documentation standards, templates, and structured authoring best practices for hardware/software-integrated products.Collaborate with Product, Hardware, Firmware, and Software Engineering to gather technical details, revision updates, and edge cases.Partner with Field Operations and Service teams to validate installation sequences and real-world content accuracy.Ensure documentation is accurate, version-controlled, and aligned with regulatory and quality standards.Present complex technical concepts using clear prose, diagrams, flowcharts, structured procedures, and decision tables.Maintain a documentation backlog aligned with product and engineering roadmaps.Additional Responsibilities
Own documentation feedback loops and continuously improve clarity and usability.Track documentation effectiveness and identify content gaps.Support internal training and customer-facing enablement materials as needed.Assist with documentation workflows tied to product release cycles and revision control processes. Requirements: 3+ years of technical writing experience supporting complex hardware, electrical, or mechanical systems.Experience documenting electrical distribution equipment such as PDUs, switchboards, UPS systems, modular power systems, or other mission-critical infrastructure.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, functional block diagrams, and control logic flows.Proficiency with structured documentation tools (Markdown, Confluence, DITA/XML, Visio or diagramming tools, Adobe Suite).Strong written communication skills with high attention to structure, process, and detail.Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data center power systems, DCIM, SNMP, Modbus, REST APIs, firmware release documentation, and foundational electrical engineering concepts (kVA/kW, grounding, coordination principles).Why Hyper?

Compensation
The anticipated minimum hiring range for this role is $75,000 - $95,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
