Humboldt Park Health has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Human Resources professional with experience leading the HR function in an acute care setting. This position requires a true generalist background with expertise in every aspect of Human Resources. Excellent listening skills are required. The Vice President is expected to bring best practices to the organization and to utilize data and evidence based practice in order to continually improve our organization. A unique aspect of this position is the involvement in all aspects of the Hospital operations, quality/regulatory and patient safety practices and patient satisfaction.
The VP will:
Serves as an advisor to the Administration, and departmental management with regard to all aspect of human resources functions including interpretation of federal and state labor laws as well as internal institutional policies.
Initiates, develops, and recommends human resources and managerial policies, procedures and program. Provides communication and training designed to promote policy compliance, skill development and implementation of best practice human resource programs and policies.
Designs and implements benefit plans to promote competitive position on the marketplace. Implements programs designed to provide employees with adequate communication. Recommends program enhancements and improvements within budget. Ensures compliance with regulations governing employee benefit plans.
Designs and implements employee compensation programs to promote competitive position in the marketplace. Creates policies and procedures that ensure budget compliance and fair and consistent treatment of employees. Creates and implements programs to maintain accurate job descriptions and promotes utilization of tools to ensure compliance with all regulations regarding compensation including wage/hour statues and taxation guidelines. Manages the performance evaluation and merit increase programs effectively and consistently.
Designs and implements recruitment programs designed to hire and retain staff to meet patient and operational needs. Utilizes best practices in branding, sourcing, screening and onboarding new hires. Implements onboarding programs to retain qualified employees.
Monitors a variety of HR metrics including turnover, vacancy, time to fill, regulatory compliance metrics (Joint Commission/Wage Hour Regulations) and other performance indicators.
Conducts training for both managerial and hourly staff on topics relative to employment including compliance (HIPAA, infection control) and skill development such as conflict resolution, coaching, negotiating, managing meetings, etc.Contributes to the management of NAH via the Management Executive Team and Leadership teams via the design of processes, research regarding best practices, consideration of alternatives and communicating suggestions and options.Manages the Human Resources department staff and financial resources to maximum performance in all the areas of financial performance, customer service, quality and continuous process improvement.7-10 years of leadership experience

Operates high-pressure boiler-room equipment under the supervision of the Chief Engineer at assigned shift hours; performs routine maintenance calls at HPH and the brand new state of the art Humboldt Park Wellness Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates high-pressure boilers and checks controls to insure proper, safe operation including water levels, incoming gas and oil pressure.Checks boiler feed pumps and oil pre-heaters for correct oil temperature and oil tank readings.Reports significant events (in a timely fashion) to the following shift relief or Facilities Mgmt. staff.Checks house pumps for water pressure to buildings and checks hot water temperature.Tests boiler water for chloride and hardness content, also checks chilled water and cooling tower water and adds chemicals accordingly.Makes rounding inspection of hospital taking temperatures and pressure readings, as required by AHJ.Regulates heat according to weather conditions.Inspects, cleans and blows down boiler for proper functioning.Cleans oil feed line strainers to boilers.Oils and greases pumps, electric motors, etc.Maintains log of boiler room operation.Operates air conditioning equipment.Changes filters in air handling units.Maintains general cleanliness of boiler room.Checks for fire hazards in all areas of the buildings.Tests emergency generator and services storage batteries.Participates in the Risk Management of the hospital.Maintains the Engineering Log for any significant events through the course of their shift. Verbally communicates that item to the relief Engineer.Exercises good judgment in placing off hour’s emergency calls to the Operations Manager regarding building systems and malfunctions.Makes the effort to correct issues on their own prior to initiating calls.Properly completes all work orders as assigned.Closes out work orders in timely fashion in Insight if position dictates. Turns those completed work orders in to the Administrative Assistant upon completion at end of shift.Qualifications:
