Hudson Meridian Construction Group (HM), a leading New York-area construction management firm, is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to oversee the sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that define our most complex construction projects.
This role is designed for a construction professional who is also a technical expert, excelling at the intersection of pre-construction strategy, field execution, and stakeholder alignment. Core Responsibilities
Technical Stewardship: Lead the end-to-end management of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/FP) systems, ensuring seamless integration with structural and architectural designs.Operational Excellence: Drive the coordination process to mitigate risks and resolve spatial conflicts well ahead of installation.Financial & Contractual Oversight: Manage high-value MEP subcontracts, including detailed scope analysis, budget forecasting, and change management.Commissioning & Quality: Oversee the rigorous testing and commissioning phases to ensure all systems perform to design intent and regulatory requirements.Professional Qualifications
Extensive Experience: A minimum of 8–10 years in MEP project management, with a proven portfolio in large-scale commercial, institutional, or healthcare sectors.Academic Foundation: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.Strategic Mindset: Exceptional ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and communicate complex technical challenges to non-technical stakeholders.Industry Proficiency: Expert-level understanding of local building codes, LEED standards, and modern construction technologies.
Willingness to travel to and across the construction sites. Project Manager Candidates will possess the ability to interpret architectural plans and specifications. Positions will require scheduling, purchasing, estimating, as well as management of personnel, vendors, and subcontractors. Reporting to the Project Executive, our Project Managers are our first line/single point of responsibility for the overall planning, management and close-out of the project. Prepares scopes of work, schedules, requisitions, project management status and reports for executive review. Works to ensure project is built per contract documents. Oversees the day to day activities of construction projects to ensure sub-trades are bought out, and on site with required materials and equipment on time. Communicates directly with owners, designers and contractors concerning project costs, budget, schedule, RFI’s, submittals, deliveries, construction and staffing levels. Assists in setting and tracking of project schedule and budget goals.
Responsibilities:
Prepare project schedules and budgets, including General conditions budgets, and cash flow projections.Prepare scope changes and change orders in accordance with approved project budgets.Review sub-contractor schedules in accordance with project schedules.Review sub-contractor requisitions in accordance with approved schedule of values.Prepare project payment applications prior to submission for approval.Prepare reports to clients on all aspects of project progress.Meet regularly with subcontractors to discuss performance issues and scheduling and payment concerns.Monitor construction to ensure projects are built on schedule, within budget, and highest quality.Keep Project Executive abreast on any issues encountered.Work closely with Project Accountant assigned to project, fully comply with ACR process.Oversee Assistant Project Managers and Administrative AssistantsProvide input to Project Executives regarding performance evaluations of team members and make recommendations for salary increases and/or promotions.Conduct team meetings with entire team to discuss project status.Serves as a mentor to Assistant Project Managers. Your main role will be to calculate cost estimates for a variety of construction projects in the Tri-State New York area, all under direct supervision.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Reviewing construction design drawings & specs, gathering all necessary info to determine the scope of work, and organizing a construction quantity take-off.Creating and executing detailed quantity take-offs based on the project scope.Making an estimate where there are no predetermined standards.Informing your supervisor about any inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or the computer database.Preparing and organizing material takeoffs for transition to the Chief Estimator.You’ll need to be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and consistently meet bid deadlines. The right candidate must have at least three years of experience in Construction Estimating with a proven track record of accuracy and efficiency. A Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience is preferred.
You’ll need a strong understanding of the NYC/NJ/CT-area Construction and Design environment, the ability to work within a team structure as well as independently, and the ability to work within tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also need strong business technology skills (Microsoft Office and Estimating), and be available to work extended hours as required by project schedules or urgent circumstances.
