Company: Hoot Health, Inc. Location: Millstone, NJ (Hybrid) Department: Growth / Sales Reports to: Founder & CEO Type: Full-time
About Hoot
Hoot is a physician-led patient education and adherence platform. We help doctors do something prescriptions alone can't: get patients to actually start, and stay on, the treatments that are right for them.
The company was founded by Bob Miglani (23 years at Pfizer) and Dr. Shefali Miglani, a practicing optometrist who watched too many of her own patients walk out the door without acting on a clinical recommendation. Hoot grew out of that exact problem. Today our platform delivers doctor-branded video and messaging over SMS, email, and RCS to close the gap between the moment a treatment is recommended and the moment a patient decides to act on it.
We work with individual practices, MSOs and DSOs, health systems, and pharmaceutical companies. Our belief is simple: the physician's voice is the most powerful behavior-change asset in medicine, and we're building the platform that puts it to work.
The Role
We're looking for a Business Development Representative to open doors at our highest-value accounts. You'll go after the big opportunities — MSOs and DSOs, health systems, large specialty groups, and pharmaceutical companies — using the phone and outbound marketing to find the right decision-makers, earn their interest, and book qualified appointments for our CEO and leadership to pitch and close.
This is a hunter's role. You won't be carrying small deals across the line; you'll be the tip of the spear, generating the high-value conversations that turn into Hoot's biggest partnerships. If you love the chase, work the phones relentlessly, and know how to get a busy executive to say yes to a meeting, this is your seat.
What You'll Do
Make a high volume of outbound calls into high-value targets — MSOs/DSOs, health systems, large specialty groups, and pharmaceutical companies — getting past gatekeepers to the executives and decision-makers who matter.Run outbound marketing campaigns (email sequences, LinkedIn outreach) that work hand-in-hand with your calling to open conversations and stay top of mind.Research and prioritize the accounts worth chasing, and map the right contacts inside each one.Qualify interest and book appointments for the CEO and leadership to pitch and close — your job is to set up clean, well-briefed meetings with real opportunities.Hand off every meeting with the context leadership needs to win: who they're meeting, what the prospect cares about, and why now.Manage your pipeline in HubSpot — keeping lifecycle stages, lead status, notes, and next steps current so nothing slips.Hit your activity targets (dials, conversations) and your number for qualified appointments booked.Tailor your pitch to the audience: a 50-location DSO, a health system, and a pharma brand team each hear it differently, and you'll learn all three.Track what's working in your outreach and continuously sharpen your approach.Stay current on the eye care, orthopedic, and pharmaceutical landscapes so your outreach is relevant and credible.
What We're Looking For
Required
1–3 years in business development, sales development (BDR/SDR), or a comparable outbound prospecting role.Comfortable and confident on the phone — you can cold call, handle a gatekeeper, and get a busy decision-maker to agree to a meeting.Experience with outbound marketing tactics — email sequencing, LinkedIn outreach, and multi-touch campaigns.A track record of hitting activity targets and booking qualified meetings.Hands-on experience with a CRM (HubSpot strongly preferred) and a habit of keeping your pipeline clean.Self-starter who thrives with a number and ownership, in a startup where the playbook is still being written.Genuine curiosity about healthcare, medicine, and how patients make decisions.
Preferred
Experience prospecting into healthcare practices, MSOs/DSOs, health systems, or pharmaceutical companies.Familiarity with sales engagement and prospecting tools (dialers, sequences, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, enrichment platforms).Comfort selling a higher-value, multi-stakeholder deal where the goal is the meeting, not the close. Background or coursework in life sciences, public health, marketing, or business.
What Success Looks Like
First 30 days: You know our products, our high-value buyers, and our story cold. You're on the phones every day and running outbound campaigns against a target account list.First 90 days: You're consistently hitting your activity targets and booking qualified appointments that leadership can pitch, and your HubSpot pipeline is accurate.First 6 months: You're reliably feeding leadership a steady flow of high-value meetings, several of which have converted to real opportunities, and you own your target list end to end.
Why Hoot
Work directly with founders who bring 20+ years of pharma, clinical, and patient-experience expertise — and learn how the big deals get closed.A mission you can feel good about: helping patients actually get the care their doctors recommend.Real ownership and a clear runway — early-stage company, growing market, room to grow into an account executive or partnerships role.A product with proof: practices and pharma teams alike are seeing the difference the physician's voice makes, which makes the phones easier to work.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission tied to qualified appointments and the deals they produce, with on-target earnings (OTE) discussed during the interview process.
