Position Overview
The Airfield Asphalt Pavement Construction Lab Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the quality control and assurance processes for asphalt pavement construction projects at airfields. This position involves conducting laboratory testing, analysis, and documentation of asphalt materials to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Material Testing and Analysis:
Perform laboratory testing and analysis of asphalt materials, including aggregates, asphalt binder, and asphalt mixtures, using standardized testing methods and equipment.Conduct tests to determine material properties such as gradation, asphalt content, density, compaction, stability, and flow, according to ASTM, AASHTO, and FAA standards.Record and interpret test results, analyze data, and prepare test reports for review by project managers, engineers, and regulatory agencies.Quality Assurance and Control:
Implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy, precision, and repeatability of laboratory tests.Verify compliance of asphalt materials with project specifications, mix designs, and performance criteria.Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and calibration records.Sample Collection and Preparation:
Collect samples from construction sites, production plants, and stockpiles following established protocols.Prepare test specimens using appropriate equipment and techniques including sieving, crushing, milling, and extraction.Handle, label, store, and dispose of samples in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or manual logs.Prepare test reports and technical documentation summarizing findings and recommendations.Communicate effectively with project teams and field personnel regarding test results and quality control activities.Qualifications & Requirements

Position Overview
The Asphalt Distribution Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of asphalt distributor trucks to apply prime coat and tack coat in support of airfield pavement construction projects. This role involves calibrating spray bar settings, maintaining proper material temperatures, and coordinating with paving crews to ensure seamless workflow on active airfield construction sites.
Key Responsibilities
Distribution Operations:
Operate asphalt distributor trucks to apply prime coat and tack coat at specified application rates and temperatures.Calibrate spray bar settings to achieve uniform coverage across runway surfaces at required gallons-per-square-yard rates.Monitor and maintain proper material temperatures throughout application operations.Coordinate closely with paving crews, flaggers, and operations personnel to ensure seamless workflow.Equipment Inspection and Maintenance:
Perform pre-operation inspections of distributor truck systems including spray bars, pumps, heating elements, nozzles, and circulation systems.Clean and maintain spray bars, nozzles, and distribution equipment to prevent clogging and ensure consistent spray patterns.Report mechanical issues, defects, or malfunctions promptly to the maintenance team.Safety and Compliance:
Comply strictly with all security protocols, airfield safety regulations, and operational requirements.Participate in safety briefings and adhere to all company and project-specific safety procedures.Follow established safety protocols for working with hot asphalt materials, including proper use of PPE.Comply with OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety requirements.Documentation and Communication:
Maintain accurate daily logs of material quantities applied, coverage areas, temperatures, and application rates.Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant operators, and on-site supervisors regarding delivery schedules and operational issues.Assist with general paving operations as needed during non-distribution periods.Qualifications & Requirements

Supervise and direct on-site construction teams including foremen, supervisors, operators, technicians, and laborers.Conduct regular meetings to review progress, address issues, and provide feedback on performance, safety, and quality.Quality Assurance and Control:
