The Special Education Teacher will work with students who have been diagnosed with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability.
Certification and Qualifications :
Pennsylvania certified in Special Education
Current (dated within a year) FBI, PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse and Act 168 clearances
First Aid/CPR
Mandated Reporter
Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
Experience teaching individuals with challenging behaviors is preferred
Essential Duties: Life Skills/Learning Support responsibilities
Provide support to a caseload of approximately 8-12 students.
Teacher will be responsible for providing modifications to student assignments, supplemental materials to support students with academic assignments, reducing student workload to an appropriate level based on their needs, setting a student up for success by providing daily schedules and study guides, one-on-one instructional support, collaborating with various professionals on behalf of each student to ensure academic success, and communication between the home and school environment
Ability to write an effective Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
Participation in and facilitation of IEP meetings
Competencies Required:
Competence in assessing student progress towards IEP goals and objectives and ability to write a quality review of records and IEP based on student progress and performance
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures
Able to work independently and effectively with other team members.
