    Position Summary


    HCPA is a Title I Charter School that serves students through a school-wide plan for instruction that is focused on the needs of at-risk students. The Elementary Teacher - Kindergarten is Responsible for instructing elementary school students from grades Kindergarten. Create a flexible classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Instruct students in courses of study such as reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science and create a well-rounded comprehensive instructional program. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education.


    Responsibilities

    Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.Support the Minnesota Graduation and Common Core Standards; implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program to which assignedEvaluate student performance in accordance with systems used by school and/or District; promote student achievement; maintain required student records; make related reports to the principal as prescribed or authorized by the superintendent.Perform classroom management duties; enforce rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students when necessary.Provides differentiated instructional methods and content to ensure student mastery of contentUse data such as screening, diagnostic information, progress monitoring, and daily work samples to adjust instruction and practice as well as target feedback.Promotes a learning environment that is welcoming, respectful, friendly and academically challengingMaintain accurate records including but not limited to attendance, grades, assessments and lesson plans via Schoology and/or PowerSchoolVia Schoology, ensure all online class resources are currentConnect with families via phone calls, emails, conferences and school eventsFoster a social environment with students to develop trust, respect, friendships and self-discovery Participate in professional development meetings/clusters providing student work when requested.Implement new learning in the classroom following professional development.Develop and work on new learning based on self-assessment, input from teacher leaders and director of teaching and learning.     o Bus duty – assist with walking students to the busses at the end of the day

    o Breakfast and/or lunch duty – assist with monitoring based on a rotational schedule

    Required Qualifications

    Current MN teaching license in elementary education for grades K-6.BA or MA Teaching Licensure and/or related BA or MA Education Degree or equivalent of experience may be considered. 3+ years of teaching experienceStrong skills in classroom presentation and management.Knowledge of instructional technologies.     Position Summary

The instructional coach plays an essential role in collaborating with administration, grade level leads, teachers, other coaches, and school personnel to promote a high-quality, rigorous, positive, and student-focused atmosphere and culture at HCPA. Instructional coaches work alongside teachers and administration actively to ensure that HCPA implements best practices and high-quality instruction in order to increase student engagement, improve academic achievement, and to close the achievement gap.


    Responsibilities


    Coaching and Instructional Leadership

    Coaches work both inside and outside the classroom to promote strong instruction and a student-centered perspective.

    Support, train, coach, provide feedback and guidance to teachers in one-on-one or in small group environment with evidence-based curriculum or strategies targeted for the specialized instructional needs of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Conduct demonstration lessons and/or co-teach lessons to help teachers improve classroom skills and practices. Build and maintain relationships with teachers based on mutual respect, positivity, and a growth mindset. Provide teachers with resources and materials to better execute specialized instruction and curriculum to support with accurate record keeping and progress tracking of each student with disabilities within special education programming to meet their annual goal(s)/objective(s)Conduct informal observations of teachers in instruction, curriculum, and/or Culture/Climate (HCPA Way). Provide feedback and guidance to teachers.Help to build leadership capacities teachers.

    Planning, Development, and Collaboration

    Work with administration, other coaches, and special education teachers to develop and adjust lesson plans, pacing, and strategies to target student needs. Support administration to help adopt specialized curriculum and other resources that will enhance teaching and learning, school culture and climate. Review and monitor multiple sources of data in order to identify areas of strengths and needs in instruction and student learning. Work with teams of teachers to monitor students’ academic progress and to help students using research-based strategies. Coordinate curriculum, resource, and material distribution and use school-wide. Plans and implements professional development opportunities for all staff related special education program needs.Communicate regularly, openly, and positively throughout teams and staff to address school issues, develop common understanding of outcomes, support teachers, identify challenges, and celebrate successes.

    School-Wide Professional Development and Initiative Facilitation

    A coach works to develop professional activities and meetings in order to support teacher learning and student growth.

    Facilitate focused and productive meetings and discussions around classroom, school, and curriculum needs. Instruct students in whole class, small group, or one-on-one settings as needed and in accordance to school needs/initiatives.Lead and participate in other school activities and initiatives, such as family nights and parent academies, in order to encourage and support community and family connections.     Summer Work


    If the instructional coach is not a 12-month staff member, additional summer days will be required. Twenty (20) additional contract days will be required, which are not included in the calculation of the regular contract. Compensation will be provided for these days of work. If additional days are needed, it will be arranged and coordinated through the supervisor, CAO and instructional coach.


    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred 5 years of teaching experience and/or 3 years of Teacher Leadership Service in K-12 setting. The Elementary Teaching Assistant duties are to support the classroom teachers and advance the HCPA’s educational programs: to create a classroom environment that is conducive to teaching, learning, and personal growth for students in accordance with each faculty members and student’s ability and to base one’s assistance to the classroom teacher on the premise that all children can learn and will learn to their highest potential.


    Responsibilities

    Under the supervision of a licensed teacher, provide instruction to students regarding study skills, reading decoding, reading for a purpose, math strategies, instruction for student to understand and use math facts, science, social studies, etc.Provide support to teachers to include instructional strategies focused on learning needs of HCPA students in daily classroom support and activities; to use lesson plans to implement instructional supportPresent lessons to groups to enable classroom teacher to work with small group, etc.Provide tutoring and support to individual students or in small groups to master content and complete assignments in all content areas to reinforce learning presented by classroom teacher.Use information provided during professional development and training sessions (when applicable) to strengthen instruction by incorporating appropriate strategies in group activities under the direction of the classroom teacher.Evaluate one’s own instructional effectiveness; adjust methods of supporting student learningAssist students to use all technologies in the school enhance teaching/learning.Collaborate with all departments to provide support to meet the needs of students served by the programs.Assist teachers or staff with data collection for student attendance, student grades, student behavior, etc.Compile and maintain records and information as directed by the teacher.Support teachers to maintain ongoing connections with students’ families; Make phone calls and provide language interpretation to parents and students as applicable.Complete any additional tasks as deemed necessary by the leadership teamParticipate in ongoing and regular staff, team, and individual professional development; be a positive addition to discussions; participate in shared decision making.Support a learning environment that is personally safe, culturally respectful, and educationally sound.Assist classroom teachers in use of family and community resources to support the classroom instructional process.Supervise student activities, which may include: o Bus duty – assist with walking students to the busses at the end of the day o Breakfast and/or lunch duty – assist with monitoring based on a rotational schedule

Please note that any work over 40 hours must be approved by the Designated Admin.

    Requirements:

    Required Qualifications

    Complete at least 2 years of college credit (usually 60 credits in MN) through an accredited institution of higher education; or

    Earn an associate’s degree or higher; or

    Pass one of MN’s approved paraprofessional exams; or

    - The Paraeducator Online Assessment from The Master Teacher, Inc.

    - The ParaPro from the Educational Testing Service (ETS);

    Obtain the voluntary lifetime credential through PELSB:

    - 60 hours of training- 2 years working in the same district

    - Passing an approved paraprofessional exam
