    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescriptionWe are looking for a Roadway Design Engineer in Indianapolis, IN with the opportunity to work on signature projects and collaborate with other design staff.  HMB is part of a transportation family ranked #14 in the country with unlimited growth potential.  We have national capabilities but maintain a local feel.

    Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the completion of roadway design tasks through collaboration with project teams and mentorship from senior engineers Work closely with Project Managers to ensure designs meet schedule and budget expectationsGain valuable experience with the opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role through mentorship and increasing responsibilityPrepare timely and accurate design drawings, details, presentations, and construction documents in accordance with applicable standardsAssist in the preparation of permit applications and submittal packages for review by regulatory agenciesCoordinate with clients, subconsultants, permitting agencies, right of way staff, utility providers, project stakeholders, and contractors under the direction of senior staffSupport the development and tracking of project scopes, schedules, and budgets to ensure project objectives are met

    Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseA minimum of 4 years experience in all technical aspects of roadway designExperience working with INDOT is a plusExperience with OpenRoads Designer preferredPE Certification is preferredDetail-oriented individual with strong technical and organizational skillsProficiency in spreadsheets, word processing and standard industry software.Works well in multidisciplinary team environments and ability to meet deadlines.Strong oral presentation and written communication skillsA self-starter that can take initiatives with key stakeholders

    Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design of drinking water distribution and/or wastewater collection systems and/or wastewater and water treatment plants. Assess the need for drinking water and/or wastewater treatment systems based on current and projected future population and/or development demands; conduct feasibility studies for the construction of public utility infrastructure to meet identified needs.Analyze, or assist with analysis of, various water and/or wastewater treatment technologies, and recommend the most effective method.Design and develop specifications for assigned projects.Conduct feasibility and related studies regarding the collection, treatment, or distribution of water or wastewater, and prepare written technical reports.Provide clients with technical support and subject matter expertise on water resources related issues.Conduct appropriate cost-benefit analyses for assigned projects.Align with marketing team on RFQs, presentations, and scoping projects.Train and mentor junior engineers.



    Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBS or MS in Civil Engineering or closely related fieldRegistration as a licensed Professional EngineerStrongly preferred experience designing water and/or wastewater treatment plants, in part or in whole15+ years of experience in public infrastructure projects related to Water Resources fieldCompleting projects in multiple states is requiredProject and / or Client Management experience is requiredAbility to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small- to large-scale multi-discipline water/wastewater projects of varying technical complexityProficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookExcellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, as well as time management skillsStrong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client needs and deadlines, as well as other assigned project parametersDetail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
