    Ambulatory Care Unit

    We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ambulatory Care Unit team, specializing in the preoperative preparation and postoperative discharge of surgical patients. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

    You'll work with patients undergoing general surgery, orthopedics, cardiac cath lab, gastrointestinal, neurosurgery, ENT, and urology, providing care throughout the perioperative process, from preadmission testing and day-of-surgery prep to Phase II, inpatient transfer and discharge.

    Key Responsibilities

    Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform clinical treatments Monitor and document patient condition, communicating changes to the care team Assist patients with daily living activities including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility Educate patients and families based on age, culture, and condition throughout the surgical experience Coordinate patient transfers, discharges, and psychosocial/spiritual support Uphold infection control standards and monitor the sterile field Participate in Universal Protocol and surgical "time out" safety procedures Initiate emergency resuscitative measures per ACLS protocols when necessary

    Patient Populations Served: Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood/body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred. Skills: Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems; effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand); ability to complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
