This is advanced-level technical work supporting engineers in functional areas of structure and roadway construction inspection, materials sampling, inspection and testing. Work usually involves a fairly wide range of decision making and use of judgment and may include providing work direction to others. Employee will function as lead project inspector conducting independent complex inspections and supervising lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract. Employee may perform contract administrative duties such as field measurements of pay items as well as other Department required documentation. Construction Project Manager
Job Description
This is advanced level technical work in functional areas of project administration and management. Employees, under limited supervision, independently manage construction activities on large complex projects (phases) such as Major intersection improvement, widening, reconstruction, diverging diamond, urban interstate resurfacing and complex Bridge Project Or other projects in similar scope/complexity (They help oversee all JCPM’s estimates who may be managing the day-to-day activities on Projects assigned to the CPM).
Employee inspects and supervises lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract and other applicable guidelines. Work includes monitoring traffic control and erosion control on the project. Work also includes monitoring construction costs; negotiating prices for contract modifications with contractors; writing or supervising the preparation of reports and correspondence; and working and communicating with contractors, supervisors, subordinates, local officials, media and the general public. Work may also include participating in Concept Meetings, Field Plan (Preliminary and/or Final) and CPM schedule reviews.

CPTS years of experience must have included a minimum of twelve (12) months of inspection experience in one or both of the following depending on which area the inspector is being approved for: (1) casting yard inspection; (2) erection inspection. In addition, two (2) years of geometry-control surveying experience is required for inspectors that perform or monitor geometry control surveying in a casting yard. CPTCB years of experience must include monitoring and inspection of the following: girder erection, safe use of girder erection cranes, girder stabilization after erection, false work for temporary girder support, and PT and grouting operations. PTS years of experience must include monitoring of the following: installation of PT ducts and related hardware and post-tensioning and grouting of strands or be the level of experience that meets the criteria for CPTS or CPTCB bridges. MB years of experience must have included the inspection of MB mechanical components for machinery inspectors and MB electrical components/system for electrical inspectors.
