    Job Summary:

    This position is mainly responsible for providing technical support duties to the Optometrists in providing the highest quality optometric care to Oyáte Health Center (OHC) patients, as well as assisting with optician and clerical duties as needed.

    Essential Functions:

    Interview patients and records health history and other appropriate findings.Assists the optometrists by doing basic testing such as visual acuity, color perception, heterophorias, auto-refraction/keratometry, and intraocular pressure.Performs special testing procedures at the request of the optometrist, e.g. visual fields, vision training, OCT, fundus photos, etc. Ensures proper storage of Pharmaceuticals, supplies and instruments to comply with professional standards and regulations.Instills pharmacological agents into patient's eyes in preparation for ocular evaluation or therapy in accordance with optometrist's instructions.Provides and assists with one-to-one and group patient education relative to optical, ocular disease-conditions and refractive problems.Verifies spectacle prescriptions through use of a lensometer, lens gauges and other instrumentation.Answers telephone, schedules appointments, registers and checks-in patients using electronic health records.Prepares prescriptions and orders glasses from optical manufacturers.Performs frame measurements necessary to assure correct cosmetic, physical and optical performance, e.g. multi-focal lenses, special specification lenses.Performs basic optical bench work such as repairing damaged or broken frames.Assists in the coordination of eye care programs of the optometry clinic with the CHR, Social Services and other agencies or departments.Provides training to other staff.Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).     Supervisory Controls

    This is in a senior management position or an advanced clinical professional that received administrative direction from their supervisor with assignments in terms of broadly defined goals or functions.     Contacts

    The personal contacts are with individuals or groups from outside the organization in a moderately unstructured setting. For example, the contacts are not established on a routine basis and the purpose and extent of each contact is different. Contacts are typically with clinical providers, patients/family members, employees, community resource agencies, various Health Departments, Tribal Health programs, and the general public.     Work Environment/Physical Demands

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items; or driving an automobile.     • Responsible for supporting, maintaining, and coordinating software packages including but not limited to the Electronic Health Record (EMR), Pharmacy Data Management package (Drug Files), RPMS-ScriptPro Interface (APSS), Outpatient Pharmacy (APSP), and Pharmacy Point of Sale (ABSP).

    • Consults with Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, Clinical Leadership, Information Technology, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Behavioral Health and other departments in customizing and optimizing software, and training individuals in the daily operation of the packages, as well as how the packages integrate with each other.

    • Responsible for a broad range of activities surrounding the implementation of a comprehensive, standardized integrated health care information system such as working with clinical departments on clinical process design and redesign, integrating clinical information systems with clinical care and business processes, and overseeing any associated application training.

    • Manage the customization of the site parameters, table maintenance, and technical settings, and addresses integration issues with other software packages.

    • Reviews site parameters and local tables with each service for accuracy and completeness.

    • Serves as liaison between service lines, clinics and departments concerning these processes, both clinical, business and administrative as well as serving on clinic committees and teams as needed.

    • Organizes and/or provides training in standardized reports and in the creation of custom templates for ad hoc reporting utilities and serves as a resource for viewing, extracting, and utilizing the automated data.

    • Promotes an atmosphere which encourages enthusiasm and user participation in clinical computing. Creates a positive environment for reporting application and/or system deficiencies and suggestions for system improvements and enhanced functionality.

    • Promotes an awareness of the importance of data validity, data quality and data security.

    • Coordinates efforts to correct deficiencies and errors which occur in the electronic record.

    • Assists all clinical staff with setting up and optimizing their department specific packages including templates, quick orders, menus, super bills, reminders, and all other electronic medical record related items which are designed to help clinical staff improve efficiency and completeness when interacting with patients.

    • Maintains an awareness and comprehensive understanding of all clinical software activities throughout the health center including but not limited to electronic health information databases (PubMed, Medline, etc.), meaningful use databases, and tele-radiology and telemedicine programs.

    • Works with programmers in local testing of software, identifying software problems and requesting enhancements. Logs all problems, referring those requiring a higher level of technical support to the appropriate person or team.

    • Make appropriate recommendations for process design and assess current healthcare process deficiencies created through the implementation of new technology.

    Responsible for a high degree of professional competence, skill and judgment in assessment, planning and carrying out the full range of treatment modalities, patient education and discharge planning of a variety of outpatient situations. This role ensures timely resolution of hardware-related issues, manages inventory and procurement, and supports the organization’s IT infrastructure through hands-on troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance. The IT Hardware Manager also plays a key role in vendor coordination, asset tracking, and end-user satisfaction.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    - Supervise Help Desk Specialists, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and scheduling support coverage.

    - Monitor ticket queues and ensure timely resolution of hardware-related service requests.

    - Foster a collaborative and responsive support environment.

    Technical Responsibilities

    - Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for hardware issues including desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.

    - Manage hardware procurement, imaging, deployment, and decommissioning.

    - Maintain accurate inventory records and asset tagging.

    - Coordinate hardware repairs and warranty claims with vendors.

    - Support onboarding/offboarding processes including workstation setup and recovery.

    Operational Oversight

    - Develop and maintain documentation for hardware standards, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

    - Track and report on hardware performance metrics and support trends.

    - Collaborate with Systems and Network teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware with broader IT infrastructure.

    - Ensure compliance with organizational policies and security protocols. "

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Education/Relevant Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field and one (1) year of experience, or associate’s degree and three (3) years’ experience, or high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience.

    1+ year in a supervisory role.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    CompTIA A+, ITIL, or related certifications.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Experience with enterprise-level hardware procurement and lifecycle planning.

    Familiarity with tribal health or public sector environments.

    Job Summary

    The Medical Assistant at the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board (GPTLHB) is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers in a tribal 638 healthcare facility. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care in compliance with AAAHC standards.

    Essential Functions

    Prepares for patient appointments by reviewing and updating patient records prior to appointment. This includes checking for updates of recent test results, lab results and correspondence. Also reviews electronic health record (EHR) to determine needed services and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since last visit. Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. Appropriately prepares patient for visit and alerts provider when patient is ready to be seen. When provider is unavailable, keeps the patient updated on the status of their appointment and when necessary assists the patient in re-scheduling or scheduling follow-up. Provides initial medical screening: Greets patients and directs to appropriate exam room. Takes weight, height, temp, blood pressure, and basic medical history; accurately documents in EHR. Assists provider or nurse upon request during examination of patient and according to generally accepted medical standards. Practices universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols. Facilitates communication between the provider(s) and patient as needed. Provide treatments as ordered such as aerosol treatments, immunizations, and injections. Assess medical and medical education needs of the patient and provide education as directed by provider. Perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures such as venipuncture, urinalysis, glucose, hemoglobin, and electrocardiogram. Provide education and instructions on lab and diagnostic results, medication refills by telephone and in person for patients. Keep patient exam rooms stocked with supplies and organized. Review the providers schedule throughout the day and prior to the start of shift to ensure patient flow. Keeps patients aware of possible delays in patient care during such events as patient accidents, traumas, seasonal outbreaks of disease, or other circumstances which increase the number of patients to be seen by providers. Enters results from patient surveys on depression, tobacco use, exercise, and intimate partner violence into the electronic health record. Logs pertinent information into the EHR, initiates requisitions for lab and x-ray. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients; drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment; hands instruments and materials to provider as directed; assists provider with exams as requested; and, cleans and sterilizes instruments. Operates electrocardiograph (EKG) and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test. Performs routine laboratory tests; performs and documents waived lab test controls per CLIA; and prepares and packages routine labs for shipping per OSHA standards. Routes slips, forms and other documents to the appropriate departments. Provides staff support: sorts and distributes mail; maintains office equipment; maintains office and medical supply inventory and reorders as needed; and, maintains team files and records. Creates, composes, edits, produces and/or distributes varied correspondence, reports, and other materials; obtains, organizes, and plans suitable presentation of content; reviews work for format consistency, grammatical construction and typographical accuracy; presents finished materials for review, or distributes. Assists with patient transfers; initiates transfer packs; copies patient information as directed; escort’s patients to and from other departments. Keeps work area neat and orderly; assists with the maintenance of supplies and cleaning equipment. Maintains confidentiality and safeguards medical information.
