Reports to: Store Manager
Objective: Maximize Grauer's sales potential by targeting painters and general contractors, maintenance facilities, home builders, and designers. Drive new account acquisition, retain existing customers and pursue sales growth opportunities. Aspire to maximize profitability and establish Grauer’s Store as the go to paint store in the region.
Sales:
Collaborate with the sales manager and store to grow business. Spend time with Ben Moore Representative for sales calls
Seek new business opportunities, new in-store leads, visit new job construction sites, review construction market data, dodge reports,
Developing leads through strong communication with Store Manager and employees and project new potential growth opportunities
Prepare special pricing and information for customer projects and follow up on specifications and project submittals set. Enter pricing in the POS system for time of purchase
Grauer’s sales & specials: Promote monthly sales, invoice stuffers, promotional offers, rebates, develop creative sales strategies.
Ability to sell products as a package of quality & service, not just price
Stay updated on industry trends, new product launches, and competitive offerings to provide accurate and relevant information to customers.
Events: Assist with facilitating customer events, contractor breakfasts, ball games, product training, demos, rollouts etc. designer events, trade shows etc
Track and record sales activities and prepare monthly overview reports for manager
Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key decision-makers and influencers in the industry.
Conduct job site visits to provide guidance and recommendations on product selection, application various technical information as needed, take donuts, lunch etc
Monitor sales performance, track key metrics, and provide regular reports to Manager
Identify market trends, competitive activities, and customer needs to adjust sales strategies accordingly
Build and maintain relationships with our target customers: (painters, general contractors, facilities, retirement communities, OEM home builders, and designers etc )
Additional Responsibilities:
Occasional in-store retail assistance - attempting to target high traffic contractor hours. Mondays, early mornings etc.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
Five plus years of experience in the Paint Industry
Strong knowledge & understanding of the professional contractor business
Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills
Demonstration of strong sales capabilities
Effective analytical, decision making, problem solving and negotiating skills a driven personality
High School Diploma
Proficient Computer Skills: Excel, Google Drive, email services, ability to learn company software/ point-of-sale systems, product information or training materials as needed
Valid driver's license
Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Objective: Assist the Store Manager with daily operations to ensure the store runs efficiently and smoothly. Promote a positive work environment, demonstrate strong time-management skills, and assist in providing staff oversight. Support customers with product selection, paint mixing, color matching, and wallpaper and window treatment orders while ensuring a consistently positive customer experience and completing other duties as required in a retail environment.
Assist Manager With - Team Management:
Cultivate a positive, engaged, and accountable workplace culture.
Provide leadership, direction, and performance oversight aligned with company policies and procedures.
Train, coach, and develop team members; delegate responsibilities appropriately. See that all policies and procedures are being followed as stated in the Standard Operating Procedures.
Manage and provide staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours. Provide appropriate documentation to employees and the Human Resources as needed.
Communicate sales initiatives, promotions, incentives, and new product launches.
Encourage consistent delivery of exceptional customer service across all channels (in-store, phone, delivery, and job sites).
Assist Manager With - Customer Service:
Ensure retail and contractor customers consistently receive knowledgeable, accurate, and timely service. Assist with product selection, color consultation, order processing, color matching, paint mixing, wallpaper, window treatments, etc.
Maintain a welcoming, engaging store atmosphere that promotes a “barbershop-style” customer experience. Ensure hospitality areas are clean, stocked, and offered to customers.
Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
Provide accurate and consistent pricing for contractor accounts.
Assist with collecting payment from customers with charge accounts
Communicate holiday hours, weather-related updates, and operational changes clearly, (e.g., by posting signage)
Maintain strengths while actively identifying and improving service opportunities.
Assist Manager With - Inventory management
Oversee accurate ordering, receiving, transfers, and returns of inventory.
Ensure shelves are stocked with appropriate inventory levels on a daily basis and in preparation for sales events. Maintain an organized stockroom; ensure pricing labels are accurate; face and merchandise shelves; conduct inventory counts; manage product rotation, dead stock, mistints, and vendor returns; and ensure all displays are accurate, current, and properly maintained.
Maintain thorough product knowledge and train team members accordingly.
Assist Manager With - Equipment and Property maintenance
Ensure all store equipment and job-related tools are operational and properly maintained, including updated computer systems and softwares. (e.g., Windows, Decor, Colorx, etc.)
Oversee cleanliness and organization of showroom, warehouse, and restrooms. Monitor interior maintenance needs and report major concerns to the General Manager or building owner. (e.g., product placement, floors swept and mopped, bathrooms cleaned, face inventory, dust counters, HVAC filters replaced, light bulbs, etc.)
Oversee exterior maintenance, including signage, keeping parking lots and sidewalks free of trash and debris, maintaining flower beds and planters, and coordinating with landscaping and snow removal services as needed.
Maintain a safe, compliant, and functional work environment.
Additional:
Support daily opening and closing procedures, including alarms, registers, tint machines, systems, paint mixing, color matching, warehouse transfers, unloading and receiving truck orders, stocking shelves, and preparing for daily operations.
Grow and maintain store profitability and monitor the various financial metrics provided by management for areas including sales, margin, labor allocations, inventory turns and stock levels.
Actively participate in management meetings, provide suggestions to peers and owners , and effectively communicate information to your team as needed.
Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency related to staffing, inventory, and store layout.

Demonstrated knowledge of company POS systems, Shopify, and Benjamin Moore programs.
Prepare for and participate in company and customer events such as Painter Breakfasts, Ball Games, COTY, and community activities.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, walking, twisting, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
Prior experience in retail paint and team management preferred.
Time expectations: The store must be properly staffed and managed during all business hours, with either the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager present or available. Additional responsibilities outside regular hours—such as managing vacations and call-offs, assisting employees or customers, attending customer events, and handling general store issues—may be required. Due to the varied nature of these responsibilities, the schedule may fluctuate. On average, this role is expected to require more than 40 hours per week, with weekly workload subject to change based on business needs.

Customer Service /Sales:
Build customer relationships: ensure prompt, positive, and professional assistance to all customers, whether in-store, on the phone or digitally across all departments (paint & decorating). Understand customer requirements through effective questioning and attentive listening. Offer comprehensive assistance and advice to customers, across all product lines and services offered by Grauer’s.
Order Processing: complete customer orders accurately and efficiently, including order taking, mixing paint to customer specifications, provide precise color matches for custom colors and competitor colors alike ensuring timely delivery or pickup.
Be inspiring to customers, be willing to offer new ideas, share up and coming trends and new products by utilizing suggestive selling techniques by identifying opportunities to upsell or cross-sell complementary products such as brushes, rollers, primers, wallpaper and window treatments to enhance the customer's project. Look for ways to add value, simplify the process etc.
Assist in carrying customer/contractor purchases to their vehicle
Provide sales leads to Outside Sales Representatives for paint/decorating, for example: new contractors, potential new customers, designers, window treatments, special pricing, accounts with opportunities for growth etc.
During downtime to boost sales, assist with pursuing new business opportunities and account growth by targeting both new and existing customers. This may involve phone calls and in-store engagement to expand our customer base and strengthen relationships.
Flexibility to deliver paint on an as needed basis
Decorating Department: Color - help customers with color selections, maintain colorchips, brochures, fan decks. Wallpaper - book loans, ordering and receiving wallpaper orders, customer notifications, occasional returns etc. Window Treatments - assist customer with general questions and get them in the hands of a window treatment specialist for at home visit, customer notifications etc, assist with blind repairs - packaging/shipping, install/uninstalling treatment
Inventory:
Inventory Assistance: actively participate with in-store activities: monitoring inventory levels, receiving inventory, restocking shelves, and ensuring products are accurately labeled and priced. Assist with Inventory counts. Report any discrepancies or shortages to the store manager.
Maintain merchandising standards established by store managers including sales floor displays, promotional displays, etc.
Additional:
Store Maintenance: participate in maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment inside and out. Performing routine tasks such as filling tint machines, sweeping floors, dusting, facing shelves, cleaning bathrooms, trash etc.
Training and Development: Participating in training programs to stay updated on new products, techniques, and industry trends. Continuously improving product knowledge and customer service skills.
Personal Presentation: Present a professional, neat appearance and maintain a good attendance record.
