Bachelors degree in education or related field Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Elementary Education) Strong classroom management and instructional skills Passion for innovative teaching practices, including project-based learning Ability to integrate arts into core academic instruction Excellent communication and teamwork skills Read LessPosition Summary: The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Teacher is responsible for all aspects of planning, assessing and instructing 4-year-olds, based on needs of each child, and the requirements of the GSRP grant. The teacher is also responsible for maintaining program quality and documentation as outlined in the GSRP Implementation Manual and Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP) licensing guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop lesson plans that detail a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, utilizing the provided curriculum.Create a classroom environment that is safe, supportive, inclusive, conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate for learners.Follow and adhere to the procedures and guidelines of the early childhood program, MiLEAP licensing guidelines, GSRP, and Michigan Department of Education (MDE).Assess the progress and growth of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports and updates as required.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct recordsMaintain positive, proactive communication with families on a regular basis.Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for Associate Teacher and/or volunteer(s).Work with program leaders and/or instructional coaches to identify and work towards professional growth goals.Complete Home Visits/Parent Teacher Conferences twice per school year.Clearly and accurately communicate with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the larger academic community to improve academic outcomes for all students.Exhibit professionalism, leadership, and personal responsibility for daily work and attendance, personal appearance, student learning, and school success.Demonstrate collegial behavior and make positive contributions to the school community.Perform all other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Michigan Teacher Certification with one of the following endorsements:Early Childhood Education endorsement (ZA)Early Childhood PK - General and Special Education endorsement (ZS)Pre-K - Grade 3 (PK-3) (ZO)Or a Bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood education with specialization in preschool teaching.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
