    About the Associate Executive Director Position

    Goodwin Living is seeking an exceptional and compassionate leader to serve as the Associate Executive Director of its Goodwin House Alexandria (GHA) campus. GHA currently serves over 450 older adults through a continuum of services in an entrance fee life plan type A focused community with the support of over 400 team members.

    Reporting to the Executive Director, the GHA Associate Executive Director plays a lead role in setting goals, building on the collaborative environment in place with residents, setting the operational vision for excellence and innovation, aligning systems for maximum excellence in service delivery, and developing talent for the community.

    Job Duties in Brief

    Work closely with residents, team members, family members, and vendors to ensure resident and team member satisfaction, compliance, and excellence in all we do.Monitor internal and external environment, constantly evaluating programs, goals and services to ensure the needs of the residents and the operational requirements of the organization are being met while being agile to sustain a community that is attractive to future residents.Provide leadership to team members through regular communication, involvement, training, and coaching; identifies corrective action as needed and provides recognition as appropriate; and fosters an environment where team members can excel. Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.Create a culture of talent excellence and career growth.Develop, manage and monitor operating and capital budgets for GHA and corporate programs under span of responsibility.Contribute to the development of and provides responsibility for the implementation of the organization’s mission, philosophy, values, strategic plan and annual goals.Seek out, cultivate and maintain positive relationships with the external community.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, business, management, or related field. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience.Experience with overseeing a variety of operational areas concurrently.Licensed as a Long Term Care Administrator (LNHA)in the Commonwealth of Virginia or able to obtain a LNHA license in the first year of employment. Minimum of five (5) years working in Senior care and services or hospitality setting.Master’s degree in Health Care Administration, preferred.

    Job Duties

    Job Summary:

    Position is primarily responsible for performing routine interior and exterior maintenance functions as it pertains to grounds, building maintenance and assisting residents with gardening as needed. This position comes under the leadership of the senior groundskeeper and maintenance supervisor.

    The hours for this position are 8am-4pm Monday-Friday

    The pay is $25/hr

    Job Duties:

    Responsible for hanging Venetian blinds, curtain rods and drapes, towel racks, pictures, mirrors, shelves, wall lamps, etc., as assigned.Assist the senior groundskeeper with daily care of the grounds. This includes removal of all trash from the parking lot and other outside areas.Assist with leaf removal, power washing of sidewalks and building entrance, weeding and trimming of trees and hedges. Assist the residents with the care of their garden boxes and other areas requiring daily assistance.Make minor repairs (unstop toilets, repair garbage disposal, etc.) as needed. Major repairs should be referred to Maintenance Technicians.Assist in repair of personal items for residents as skill level allows.Perform maintenance checks to ensure that plumbing, lights, outlets, and appliances are all in working order, as well as doorknobs and blinds, closet and cabinet doors and drawers, etc. for pre-move-in turnover, and yearly thereafter.Assist in the clean-up of floods and other facility restoration needs.Assist in the removal of snow and ice.Must alert Human Resources or the Department Director of any change in driving record, including but not limited to accidents and tickets for traffic violations.

    Job Qualifications:

    Must have knowledge of the requirements for repairing furniture, fixing pictures, repairing blinds, and similar projects.Must have experience assisting with exterior grounds maintenance.Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, and visitors.Must be generally familiar with gasoline and electrical motors, electrical wiring, heating equipment, plumbing and refrigeration equipment.At least two years’ experience working within a maintenance setting performing similar tasks.Education/certification in one of the maintenance trades and/or grounds is preferred.

    Job Summary:

    The painter is responsible for performing responsive, accurate and efficient resident apartment and common area painting and wall coverings. Duties to include (but not limited to) the interior and exterior maintenance of painted areas of the community.

    The schedule for this position is M-F 7am-3pm

    We offer a pay of $26/hr

    Duties:

    Perform residential painting/wall covering as scheduled.Maintain the esthetics of high traffic common areas. (Painting and wall covering).Restore painted areas in vacated apartments to new-like conditions for new residentsPerform custom painting/wall covering services as contracted by residents.Expertly perform drywall patching and sanding repairs as needed.Prepare written communications as required to request painting/wall covering materials and supplies and to report on the completion of each work order.Assist the department with light maintenance duties as needed and assigned.Proactively identify and repair scuffs, dents, or damage in hallways, lobbies, and amenity spaces.Handle finish carpentry, including installing or repairing baseboards, trim, cabinetry, and doors.Assist the broader facilities team with general maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, lighting updates, and emergencies including snow removal, leak response, etc.Maintain a clean workspace, manage material inventory, and ensure all work complies with safety standards.

    Qualifications:

    Proven experience in professional painting, drywall finishing, and light carpentry.Must have a working knowledge of commercial and residential painting and wall covering.Ability to work efficiently under turnover deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail.Ability to use power tools and painting equipment.Strong team player mentality with willingness to assist in general maintenance beyond primary trade skills.High school diploma or GED.Three to five years of experience in a residential setting.

    About the Position

    The Admission Nurse is responsible for the care of patients assigned by the Director of Hospice Admissions. The RN assigned will do the admission assessment for that patient, identifying patient needs and status. The RN, under the physician’s nursing order, will devise a Plan of Care to address all patient needs to provide optimal functioning.

    Job Duties

    • Presents hospice services and philosophy of care to patients and families faced with the challenges of arranging end of life care.
    • Performs in person assessments to determine eligibility for hospice, receives certification from the hospice physician and obtains consent for service.
    • Completes admissions process, initiates plan of care and ensures immediate care needs are addressed.
    • Communicates with the receiving interdisciplinary team about the goals of care, initial plan of care and patient/family expectations.
    • Provides direct nursing care in a Hospice setting under the guidelines of a physician’s order.
    • Performs/completes admission/start of care (SOC), recertification, evaluations, discharges and accompanying documentation in a timely manner.
    • Performs a detailed assessment resulting in the development of a patient specific Plan of Care. Client clinical record documentation is done per agency policy.
    • Communicates with other team members regarding the Plan of Care and continues to work with team members for the duration of the patient’s case.
    • Effectively communicated with referring physician, either verbal or written, and provides accurate treatment notes and other necessary documentation.
    • Documents information regarding interpretation of Hospice care policy, agency philosophy, objectives, and long-range plans.
    • Prepares for patient discharge planning as soon as possible along with informing and preparing the patient, team members and physician.
    • On-going observational recording/reporting of changes in patients condition as soon as possible to the patient’s physician, and other team members,
    • Makes recommendations for involving other services, as deemed necessary.
    • Advises and consults with the patient’s family in the patient’s therapy program.
    • Attend staff meetings at least 4 times/year.
    • Documents all communication with other personnel to contribute to patient’s case conference notes.
    • Uses equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently and request supplies needed for patient care.
    • Maintains confidentiality of patient information as well as co-worker’s personal information if applicable at all times.
    • Implements infection control and safety measures as appropriate.
    • Consistently addresses patients concerns. Promotes education for patients, family members and caregivers.
    • Demonstrates current knowledge regarding professional career.
    • Attends mandatory in-services and maintains 100% compliance with mandatory data-based training.
    • Participates in orientation of Hospice/Home Health care staff members.
    • Immediately reports abuse/suspected abuse to supervisor, and DHHS or APS.

    Job Requirements

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    • Licensed to work as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
    • At least one year acute care experience, Hospice preferred.
    • Current CPR card.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written.
    • Knowledge of the duties and functions of Home Health and Hospice care and its relationship to the healthcare community is preferred.
    • Must know or willingness to learn and perform documentation and SOC.
    • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and work independently thought out the workday.
    • Possess a driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance and readily available, reliable transportation.
    • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with patients, family members and caregivers.
    • Must be willing to and able to participate in a teamwork approach, working with all disciplines involved in the patient’s care/case.

    About the Position

    Assesses, plans, organizes, and administers rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.

    Job Duties

    Provides Physical Therapy treatments to overcome specific losses of function due to disease and injury, under a Physical Therapist’s Plan of Care, and as dictated by the Commonwealth of Virginia Occupational Therapy Practice Act.Effectively communicates to clarify the Plan of Care, relay resident’s progress with treatment, report any adverse effects of treatment, report medical decline or inability to follow through with recommended treatments, and offers suggestions to alter and progress the Plan of Care based on knowledge and experience with that particular resident.Documents treatments/services according to the Rehab Department’s protocols and Medicare guidelinesCoordinates resident’s treatment with nursing staff, physical and speech therapists.

    Job Requirements

    Degree in Physical Therapy from an APTA approved and accredited college or university.Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in Virginia.CPR certification (adult only).Has the ability to move intermittently throughout the workday, lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc. up to 50 lbs. getting assistance when needed is a must.

    About the Position

    Position is primarily responsible for leadership of the Facilities Management Department including the campus facility, property grounds, equipment, and building systems in accordance with policies, procedures, and any regulatory requirements.     Job Duties

    In conjunction with the Associate Executive Director (AED), and consistent with organizational goals and objectives, develops and implements action plans for achievement of goals and objectives within agreed-upon timeframes, involving staff as appropriate. Regularly reports status of goal attainment to the AED.Oversees department functions, processes and team members to ensure effective maintenance and management of all aspects of the property, buildings, grounds, systems, and equipment. Ensures quality management across all operations.Drives progress to meet or exceed established KPIs for the department including but not limited to budget management, retention/turnover, and survey results such as Employee Engagement, Department of Health or Department of Social Services surveys/inspections, and resident surveys (e.g., Holleran).Oversees the budget planning and development process for the department. Manages all costs and expenses, making recommendations to the AED on cost containment.Operates the department(s) within established budgetary parameters. Prepares budgets and related reports as required and continuously monitors financial performance. Reports variances of actual-to-budgeted financial performance to the AED on a regular basis. Effectively uses resources and strives for efficiency. Review staffing schedule for proper weekly coverage including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules. Collaborate with Manager on reviewing and approving/denying PTO requests.Oversees the development and coordination of all departmental in-services, training, and inspection schedules.Partners with the Associate Executive Director and Human Resources leadership to address performance or behavioral issues and implement corrective action efficiently and effectively including written documentation.Leads the department’s role in the development, management or oversight of capital construction and renovation projects, including writing RFPs, selecting contractors, budget management, compliance, and program management.Collaborates with other departments as needed on the development, coordination, and implementation of capital construction and renovation projects.Oversees the effective direction and scheduling of externally contracted services providers performing building maintenance and repairs. Approves invoices for payment after inspection confirms full and satisfactory completion.Delivers the Fire and Life Safety Education module of Goodwin Living Orientation (GLO).Maintains a working knowledge of building systems, Worxhub, preventative maintenance and schedules, and regulations/compliance with local, state, and federal laws including OSHA, Fire, EPA, etc.

    Job Qualifications

    Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent experience preferredCertified Facility Management I (CFM)certificate strongly desired.Must have a minimum of 5-10 years of leadership experience overseeing building operations and maintenance with financial, operational, project management, and personnel responsibility.Strong business writing and verbal communication skills required.Proficiency with computers and the Microsoft office suite required.Experience with maintenance management software is highly preferred.Must possess ability to deal tactfully and effectively with residents, team members and others.Knowledge of security systems, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Audio/Visual (AV) systems a plus.Ability to understand technical specifications, descriptions, drawings, and blueprints.Ability to draft and complete specifications and standards for requests for proposals and requests for quotes.Ability to evaluate proposals.

    About the Position

    The Hospice Physician creates and oversees the medical component of each patient’s plan of care. The Hospice Physician is responsible for medical oversight for each patient and working with the entire interdisciplinary team to provide high quality Hospice care.

    Job Duties

    Reviews patients medical records and certifies patient eligibility for Hospice care upon admission and the beginning of each subsequent benefit period.Serves as attending physician for patients without a primary physician at the request of the patient and or medical power of attorney. In this capacity, provides all legally required orders for care and signs death certificate.Acts as attending physician as requested in the absence of other attending physicians; assures the availability of 24 hour per day, 365 days per year medical care to all patients and consultation to all interdisciplinary team members.Acts as the Medical Director in the Medical Director’s absence Coordinate medical care to assure competent, appropriate delivery of Hospice services. Review patient medication lists for accuracy, safety and drug interactions. Participates in the interdisciplinary development, evaluation, and revision of plans of care during IDG and outside of IDG as necessary.Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and attending physicians in resolving care conflicts and ethical dilemmas.Make medically necessary visits in-person (or telehealth visits when appropriate) as well as assist in face-to-face encounters as needed.Provides leadership in delivery of state-of-the-art pain and symptom management.Responds in a timely manner to questions and clinical concerns (within 15 minutes for texts/calls and 24 hours for emails). Participates in the development of standing orders, clinical protocols, policies, procedures, forms, quality improvement monitors, and service programs as requested.Effectively represents the Hospice program through routine communication with physician colleagues; seeks opportunities to act as an advocate for Hospice care.Participates in the presentation of community education programs for the health care professional and the public.Respects the autonomy and the right to confidentiality of all patients and families.Seeks opportunities for professional growth, including demonstrating the ability to receive constructive performance feedback.Participate in departmental and/or agency quality improvement activities, and management meetings as requested.Acts independently and responsibly to perform job duties on a consistent basis.Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organizational requirements and is in good working order. Must be willing to travel the entire service area.Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements
