    General Summary: A non-exempt position responsible for preparing the procedure rooms for cases, assisting physicians and the nursing staff during procedures, and maintaining a safe and clean procedure environment in the ambulatory surgical center.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    Helps RN to gather medical history information. Provides patient care as outlined by state Nurse Practice Act, including nursing assessments, taking vital signs, and assisting in procedures as directed.Assists patients with activities such as ambulation, transfers, dressings, grooming, and nutrition. Transports patients safely using appropriate equipment such as wheelchairs.Observes patient condition and immediately communicates changes/concerns to RN, LPN, or Clinical Nurse Manager.Follow emergency procedures including using CPR if necessary.Helps stock department equipment and supplies.Rotates in scope room with disinfecting, sterilizing and performing checks. Maintains equipment’s integrity. Documents steps taken performing these tasks as required.Responsible for room set up, assisting physician as needed during procedure and cleaning following procedures ensuring infection control techniques are followed.Other duties as assigned.

    Experience: Minimum two years of experience as a nursing assistant. Experience in gastroenterology and surgical assistance preferred.

    Other Requirements: Ongoing BLS certification.

    Performance Requirements:

    Knowledge:

    Knowledge of basic nursing skills with emphasis on gastroenterology procedures and care.Knowledge of ways to help RNs and physicians in the ambulatory surgery care setting and to maintain a safe working environment.Knowledge of body mechanics.

    Skills:

    Skill in appropriately taking vital signs.Skill in effectively transferring and transporting patients.Skill in maintaining a clutter-free, organized surgical care area.

    Abilities:

    Ability to respond flexibly to changing workload or patient assignments.Ability to use department supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient, effective manner.Ability to communicate effectively as a health care team member.Ability to demonstrate full range of motion, eye–hand coordination, manual/finger dexterity and agility.Ability to, at a minimum, read, write, and document English at a high school level.Ability to read numbers and perform basic arithmetic calculations.

    Equipment Operated: Standard medical equipment, including pulse oximeter, blood pressure monitor, and wheelchairs. Gastroenterology equipment including, but not limited to, endoscopes, scope processors/light source, forceps, snares, electrocautery, leak tester, high level disinfecting processors.

    Work Environment: Ambulatory surgery center. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to an ambulatory surgical setting.

    Mental/Physical Requirements: Varied activities including standing, sitting, walking, turning, stooping, reaching, bending, and lifting – supporting debilitated and/or unsteady patients. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must hear and see well enough to obtain and document information accurately. Must communicate well enough to answer questions and converse over the telephone to be thoroughly understood.

    Occasional stress is related to patient load.

    General Summary:
    A non-exempt position responsible for assisting with patient care. Employees are hired
    with an expectation to help carry out basic patient care in the Medical office clinical

    Job Summary and Responsibilities:
    The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of our
    providers, Clinical Supervisor, and Practice Administrator, and in cooperation with other
    offices staff in assisting with safe and effective patient care in compliance with
    established standard base appropriate to scope of practice outlined by state Nurse
    Practice Act s as well as policies and procedures. Follows all HIPAA, OSHA, State,
    Local, and Federal guidelines as required by law. Ability to works independently with
    minimal supervision and utilizes time management practices. Promotes teamwork within
    the work environment. Responsible for routine functions including maintenance of
    patient flow, exam room preparation and turnover, Medication reconcile, allergies, vital
    signs, medical history, documentation of patient encounter, patient education,
    appointment scheduling, assisting providers as needed. Prepares patients’ charts for
    the day by pulling needed information from all sources. Ability to utilize computer
    system: Documents patient information with accuracy and in a timely manner. Prioritizes
    calls via Triage principles Urgent vs. Non-Urgent and processes them accordingly.

    Responds in a timely manner to Nurse calls, Providers request, Labs/US/CT/Path
    orders or results, Prescription request, and faxes. Responsible for Re-Stocking
    Equipment/Supplies and checking Expiration dates to include Medications.


    Education:
    Successful completion of a state-approved Certified/Registered training program.


    Experience:
    Minimum of one year medical office clinical experience. Candidates who have
    performed an externship in a private practice may be considered.


    Requirements:

    General Summary:

    A non-exempt position responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the delivery of clinical care in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Must be prepared to deal with evolving integrated health care delivery systems, technological innovations, an increasingly complex regulatory environment, restructuring of work, and more emphasis on quality outpatient procedural care. Accountable for assuming standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice are consistent throughout the Ambulatory Surgery Center.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    Manages clinical department in the ASC with major focus on improving the business aspects of health care operations and the quality of the health care provided. Collaborates with administrative staff and physicians to optimize efficiency.Establishes and implements policies, objectives, and procedures for department. Reports on department results and outcomes.Participates in staff human resource planning and decisions, including hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating personnel and their work.Develops budgets including recommendations for equipment outlays. Ensures appropriate reimbursement by staying abreast of billing, collections, and payer matters as well as Medicare/Medicaid regulations.Coordinates activities with other clinical managers, administrative staff, and physicians.Oversees infection control and immunization programs (to include Hep B, TB, annual flu vaccine). Oversees scheduling of staff in accordance with flexing procedural schedule. Oversees quality improvement program to include data collection, aggregation and comparison to internal and external benchmarks.Oversees compliance to regulatory and accrediting body standards. Facilities management to include safety, maintenance and documenting that required verifications have been met (i.e., gases, generator, HVAC, etc.)Conducts routine drills to ensure appropriate Life Safety response. (i.e., fire, emergency response, weather drills, etc.)Other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    BSN or Baccalaureate degree in health-related field. Master's degree in health administration or business administration preferred. On-the-job management experience may be an acceptable substitute.

    Experience:

    Required: One year of progressive management experience, during which the qualities of competence of clinical practice, leadership and administrative abilities have been demonstrated. Must be self-directed in improving and acquiring the abilities and skills necessary to enhance job performance.

    Preferred: Experience in Gastroenterology.

    Other Requirements:

    Current Georgia RN license in good standing. Preferred membership in SGNA.

    Performance Requirements:

    Knowledge:

    Knowledge of payment/reimbursement systems and government/legal regulations and requirements related to health care.Knowledge of health care delivery trends and implications for clinical specialty and for the medical practice.Knowledge of planning, budgeting, human resource management, and report development. Understanding of cost analysis techniques.Knowledge of AAAHC and Medicare regulations affecting ASC’s.

    Skills:

    Skill in motivating others to positively impact their decisions, which requires strong leadership abilities using tact, diplomacy, flexibility, and communication techniques.Skill in using financial and information systems.Skill in restructuring work to make patient flow and other operational systems more efficient.

    Abilities:

    Ability to make effective decisions by being open to different opinions.Ability to analyze contradictory information and solve problems effectively.Ability to analyze financial and other business data. Ability to, at a minimum, read, write and document English at a high school level.Ability to read numbers and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results. Ability to read and interpret physicians’ orders and notes from other providers. Demands creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work under stress. Must communicate well – both verbally and in writing.

    Equipment Operated:

    Standard office equipment and supplies including blood pressure and pulse oximeter monitors, wall gases and suction equipment, thermometers, and all medical equipment used in gastroenterology procedures. May involve use of assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, and oxygen tanks. Requires use of computer. Working use of Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

    Work Environment:

    Work is performed in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Controlled lighting, acoustics, air quality, and temperature settings. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.

    Considerable standing and walking to consult with coworkers and staff. Also involves sitting, lifting, turning, stooping, and reaching.
