To learn more about GTS go to https: www.garudtechnology.comResponsibilities & DutiesSupport a federal agency’s technical division and act as a subject matter expert for civil engineering mattersUtilize subject matter expertise to deliver solutions to engineering requirements for DHS projects to include both new construction and maintenance and repair of existing real propertyCommunicate with senior leadership; engineering subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers and facility managers about issues and solutions regarding project requirementsPerform quality assurance reviews of design documents and engineering studies, and provide associated technical recommendationsReview project progress from an engineering perspective, measuring performance and proposing necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed-upon requirementsTravel to project sites at geographically dispersed locations nationwide as required to verify progress of work, ensure conformity with specifications and accepted engineering practices, attend program management reviews and contribute to technical Integrated Project TeamsProvide engineering inputs to cost estimates; utilize value engineering analysis as neededProvide input on appropriate standards, and guidelines, as well as interpretation and compliance for codes and regulations.Collaborate with other PMOD Infrastructure personnel including directors, project managers, environmental staff, and real estate staff.Oversee the execution of engineering projects as needed.Required Educations, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities10+ years’ experience in civil engineering design, or civil engineering management.Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related fieldExperience in one or more of the following areas:Construction managementInfrastructure maintenance and/or repair experienceStructural or Civil/site design experienceFamiliarity with Microsoft Office including Microsoft projectExperience in contributing simultaneously, multiple projects with independent schedules and budgets.Exceptional oral and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proven resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude with a strong track record of effective customer communication, including feedback gathering, execution updates, and issue resolution.Ability to work efficiently in teams comprising both technical and non-technical individuals.Comfortable and skilled in adapting to rapidly changing environments with dynamic objectives and user interactions.Travel within CONUS will be required, up to 40%.US citizenship requiredThis position is contingent on passing a DHS Background Investigation (BI). Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a comprehensive government security investigation must meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information. The background investigation includes financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, and employment verification.Qualifications & Certifications (Desired)A current Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in Training (EIT) certification.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or other industry-related certificationHighly Preferred: Active/Full DHS - Customs and Border Protection (CBP) BILocation: On-site at offices located in the National Capital Region, primarily Ashburn, VA.
