    About the role:

    Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have insights, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner's Business and Technology Insights (BTI) group, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative insights which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner's value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

    A Senior Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients' businesses toward key objectives and publish these pragmatic and/or provocative insights. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner's value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.

    Gartner is seeking a supply chain technology analyst with experience in warehouse and fulfillment technologies including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), warehouse automation and robotics. The role will drive new thought-leading research around the tools, solutions, and technologies that can solve our supply chain client's business challenges as it relates to warehousing, fulfillment, and distribution. The research will be targeted to supply chain technology leaders, logistics leaders, chief supply chain officers, heads of SC strategy, and software provider and services leaders. The key activities performed include client calls to articulate insights, conducting research, producing written content that spans from pragmatic to innovative, presenting at Gartner and outside events. The role also requires collaboration with peers, partnering on research and writing, and participation in research communities to develop thought leading insights.

    What you will do: Create innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged "must-have" insights on the best options to prepare a business case, identify potential vendors, evaluate, select, and implement warehouse and fulfillment systems, solutions, and technologies to solve their mission critical priorities. Develop new insights and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and requests that accelerate the client's ability to act within the changing vendor marketplace for warehouse and fulfillment systems and automation solutions and emerging warehouse and fulfillment ecosystems, architecture, and business models. Proficiency in developing visual aids through graphics and converting written content to presentation materials is an important attribute for this role. Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client's barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing insights positions across a team of analysts Bring provocative, independent insights to Gartner leaders that can evolve the course of a research agenda Research, analyze and predict market trends and shifts to provide clients and vendors with actionable insights Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions Create and deliver high value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings Support BTI and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help Insights teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business Provide high quality and timely content peer review Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategy Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the Insights community Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and BTI provide excellent service delivery Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members Be client-centric while actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner insights and interactions

    Candidates must have A minimum of 7 or more years of experience in systems and solutions required to automate and optimize warehousing and distribution operations. You must be extensively familiar with WMS systems and their implementation. First-hand knowledge of multiple vendor's WMS solutions would be highly desirable. Experience with variations of material handling equipment (MHE), warehouse automation, WCS/WES, and intralogistics warehouse robotics is also being sought for this role. Experience with other warehousing systems such as workforce management (WFM), ecommerce fulfillment, distributed order management (DOM), yard management (YMS), dock door scheduling, supply chain visibility, and systems integration is also highly desirable. Experience with the best practices and issues facing end users of warehouse and fulfillment technologies. Possess strong writing and presentation skills. Articulate and succinct communication skills; can interact at all levels of an organization on logistics technology, supply chain and business issues; explaining complex ideas effectively and to presenting to large groups in workshops and conferences is desired. A strategic and critical thinker, demonstrates analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns and drawing and defending conclusions. Demonstrate a curiosity for new ideas and best practices in emerging digital supply chain and logistics technology. Successful candidates are able to efficiently multitask, show a self-motivated work ethic, but also be collaborative within a geographically diverse team environment. Strong project planning and management skills and ability to collaborate with a research team. Domestic and international travel may be required - approximately 10% could be required. Bachelor's degree or higher in information systems, supply chain/logistics, or computer science is preferred or sufficient work-related experience.

    What you will need: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred 12+ years of relevant field or industry Location in the North America (Eastern or Central Time zones) - this position is home-office based - Remote Worker Subject Expertise: A good understanding of end-to-end supply chain concepts incorporating plan, source, make, deliver and service with specific senior-level understanding of logistics operations and technology.
