This individual will oversee the development of competitive project budgets, evaluate opportunities and risks during the bidding process, and collaborate closely with operations, ownership, and trade partners to secure new work.
    This position is ideal for a construction professional who combines strong technical estimating expertise with strategic thinking, leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of commercial construction markets.
    Responsibilities:
    • Lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for commercial construction projects from initial bid review through final proposal submission
    • Prepare detailed project budgets by analyzing plans, specifications, scope requirements, and project constraints
    • Utilize digital takeoff and estimating software to quantify labor, material, and equipment requirements
    • Evaluate bid documents to identify cost exposures, scope inconsistencies, scheduling considerations, and constructability concerns
    • Coordinate outreach to subcontractors and suppliers to obtain comprehensive and competitive pricing packages
    • Review trade partner proposals and perform scope comparisons to ensure complete project coverage
    • Collaborate with company leadership to establish bidding strategies and project pursuit plans
    • Develop value-driven solutions that balance competitiveness, risk management, and profitability objectives
    • Prepare proposal packages, qualifications, assumptions, and supporting bid documentation
    • Assist with preliminary scheduling and phasing analyses during the preconstruction process
    • Verify compliance with project-specific participation goals, including MWBE, SDVOB, and other diversity requirements
    • Foster long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
    • Support the handoff of awarded projects to operations teams by communicating project assumptions and estimate details
    • Analyze historical cost data and project outcomes to enhance estimating accuracy and improve internal processes
    • Champion innovation through the use of emerging technologies, data-driven tools, and continuous improvement initiatives
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered
    • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience within the commercial construction industry, with senior-level experience preferred
    • Comprehensive understanding of construction assemblies, building systems, means and methods, and project delivery approaches
    • Demonstrated success preparing estimates for complex commercial construction projects
    • Experience using digital estimating and takeoff platforms such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or comparable software
    • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
    • Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or similar planning tools
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate project risks and develop practical solutions
