    JOB SUMMARY

    This is a sales position reports directly to the Vice President of Field Sales, FreshPoint. This position will be responsible for the improvement of FreshPoints market position and achieving financial growth by defining long-term strategic goals, identifying business opportunities, finding potential new customers and negotiating contracts to secure their business. Working with the Presidents, Sales Leaders and Marketing Associates, the Regional New Business Developer fosters relationships with prospects and transitions these accounts to the sales force.


    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Works with the senior teams across multiple operating companies on the development of a comprehensive business development strategy with a focus on local street, local contract, and retail segments.Accountable for leveraging data to identify segment opportunities and build creative and effective sales plan to capitalize on those segmentsIdentifies business development opportunities, coordinates sales teams to propose new business, and drive such opportunities from concept to executionCollaborates with sales team to expand business development efforts, including contributing to annual profit plan and assist with the implementation and execution of such plans and tracking outcomesManages systems and processes to track, measure and report on results of business development initiativesGather information on emerging market and foodservice industry trends to understand the competitive landscape and top position Sysco for increased effectiveness in securing new businessAttends industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provides feedback and information on market and creative trendsPresent to and consult with senior level management on trends in the foodservice businessIdentify opportunities for promotions, additional services, and distribution avenues that will lead to an increase in salesDevelop strong working relationships with brokers, distributors, company and foodservice industry peersSupport Customer Engagement efforts to provide FreshPoint customers with expanded service channel options (e.g. Sales Coordinator, FreshPoint mobile/ecomm).Plan and record daily activity accurately within CRM toolDevelop primary vendor programs as neededConduct quality business reviews for existing customersConduct merchandising research for customers regarding products to meet their needsReview weekly, monthly and quarterly sales objectives and results for target accounts and prepare action plans where improvement is neededProvide, prepare and cut samples for customers as requiredAttend sales meetings, food shows, customer events etc. and provide feedbackStay current with development in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and reading publicationsStay current with FreshPoints value-added offerings and technology solutions, including but not limited to customer-facing reporting toolPerform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records and filing reports.Participate in ongoing training sessions.Assist with the trainings as requested.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education

    High School education required. Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. business administration) or equivalent educational level preferred.


    Minimum Experience

    5 or more years with a proven track record of opening new business in the food service industry.

    Preferred Experience:

    5+ years foodservice sales experience3+ years Restaurant management / chef experience


    Skills:

    JOB SUMMARY
    This is an outside sales position responsible for promoting the company's products and services and for building relationships with new and existing accounts. The main focus is to help Freshpoint customers succeed while achieving sales and profit goals established by the company. This position may require working some non-traditional hours (evening, weekends, and holidays) to successfully meet customers' needs.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within assigned territory.

    Seek and qualify prospects following company account stratification goals.

    Research customer business needs and develops a mix of products and service to meet needs.

    Evaluate market trends and recommend products to customers, based on business needs and goals.

    Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services provided.

    Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product use.

    Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel.

    Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, etc.

    Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and client; collect all balances due based on approved credit terms.

    Manage deliveries to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order process (for example, out of stock items, special order items, low inventory, etc.).

    Participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and customer events.

    Attend and participate in general sales and district meetings.

    Engage in ongoing training sessions.

    Assist with the training of new employees as requested.

    Review and analyze daily and weekly reports such as special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data.

    Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits, and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.

    Other duties may be assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education

    High School degree or equivalent


    Experience

    Minimum 2 years of sales, and/or chef/restaurant management experience, and/or related (Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality; or Culinary Arts) degree.

    1 year of outside foodservice sales experience preferred

    Restaurant management / chef experience preferred

The Specialist is also responsible for building and maintaining a customer base with a focus on local produce.

    Responsibilities:

    Develop and execute targeted sales strategies to achieve region and individual annual business goals, delivering profitable sales growth and penetration

    Identify the needs of customers and prospects to assemble a product mix that delivers solutions and helps achieve business objectives

    Communicate with sales and merchandising teams on market conditions, product availability, new items and applications

    Coordinate with buyers to determine which products can be grown by and committed to local farmers

    Work collaboratively with Food Safety team to ensure vendors adhere to and maintain required food safety standards

    Manage new vendor onboarding with insurance, GAP audits, and AS400 farm maintenance

    Manage local reporting for both OpCos, monthly insurance reports, and quarterly Small Supplier reports

    Connect with contract customers to ensure chefs receive the local reports, marketing, and product lists to support local purchases

    Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services provided

    Track activities and results, collaborate on opportunities, and champion the team selling process through use of Salesforce (Syscos CRM tool)

    Leverage sampling in a solutions-oriented manner to close sales

    Provide feedback on product quality, product integrity, product mix, customer satisfaction, perceived value and competition

    Develop and maintain relationships with customers, chefs and sales team members

    Support execution of prioritized sales strategies through direct selling and engagement of customers and prospects at Sysco events (e.g. food shows, industry events)

    Utilize data analytics to prioritize produce opportunities

    Other duties as assigned by Manager

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education/Experience:

    Minimum: High School Diploma or GED and 3+ years of sales experience within a retail, broker, wholesale or distribution environment with a deep technical expertise of produce categories

    Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent educational level

    Knowledge & Skills:

    Proficiency in produce knowledge and trends required

    (Internal Certification & External Certification may be required)

    Analytical problem-solving skills, including familiarity with analyzing reports and deriving insights from data

    Ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, food cost and expense ratio

    Strong financial acumen and ability to properly plan and execute business plans

    Flexible; readily accepts change; open to new ideas

    Track record of success in the area of consultative selling, networking and negotiations

    Proficient communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with and influence a variety of key stakeholders

    Experience building trust with prospective customers and securing new business

    Strong business and restaurant operations acumen to manage sophisticated customers

    Ability to learn the use of proprietary CRM tools for planning and forecasting sales growth

    Proficient in Microsoft Applications Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to structure a weekly schedule to be successful

    Demonstrated ability to deliver against deadlines and produce high-quality results (accuracy, thoroughness in the deliverables they are producing)

    Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives at the same time

    Travel

    Must be able to travel to operating locations and other destinations as needed equates to 25-50% of the time
