    Responsibilities:

    Perform structural analysis and design of bridges and related transportation structures, including new construction, rehabilitation, and replacement projects.

    Prepare design plans, technical reports, calculations, and specifications in accordance with applicable standards and client requirements.

    Support project management activities including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with internal disciplines and external clients.

    Conduct structural modeling and load rating analyses using software such as LEAP Bridge, MIDAS, LARSA, or CSiBridge.

    Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, and environmental teams to ensure integrated project delivery.

    Review design documents for quality, accuracy, and compliance with AASHTO LRFD, DOT, and local standards.

    Participate in site visits, inspections, and field data collection to support design and construction activities.

    Mentor junior engineers and provide technical support and training as needed.

    Assist with proposal preparation, cost estimating, and business development efforts.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.

    5–8 years of progressive experience in bridge design and structural engineering.

    Professional Engineer (PE) license required or the ability to obtain within six months.

    Proficiency in bridge analysis and design software (e.g., LEAP Bridge, LARSA, MIDAS, CSiBridge, STAAD, or equivalent).

    Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation; Revit experience a plus.

    Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and relevant DOT design procedures.

    Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

    French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Field Municipal Staff Engineer for our office in Newark, NJ. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent Civil Engineering graduate who is interested in municipal infrastructure, construction engineering, and field operations.

    In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and construction professionals while gaining hands-on experience on a variety of municipal and utility infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey.

    Responsibilities

    Assist with observing and documenting construction activities for municipal and utility infrastructure projects, including water distribution, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and roadway improvements Support senior staff with monitoring contractor work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, and applicable standards Prepare daily field reports documenting project progress, site conditions, installed quantities, and completed work Take and organize photographic documentation of construction progress and key milestones Assist with tracking quantities and maintaining project records for payment applications and project documentation Communicate with contractors, municipal representatives, utility companies, and project team members regarding field activities and project updates Attend construction meetings and assist with documenting discussions, action items, and project progress Help verify materials, equipment, and workmanship meet project requirements and quality standards Support the review process for shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders under the guidance of senior staff Monitor project schedules and communicate potential delays or field concerns to project managers Observe job site safety practices and report unsafe conditions when identified Assist with project closeout activities, including punch list preparation and final inspections

    Qualifications

    French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Project Engineer for our Highway/Traffic department in Boston, MA.


    Responsibilities

    Prepare and oversee roadway and highway design plans, specifications, and cost estimatesPerform geometric design, grading, drainage coordination, and maintenance of traffic plansCoordinate with internal disciplines including civil/site, traffic, structural, environmental, and utility teamsAssist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverablesServe as a technical resource for junior engineers and designersAttend client meetings and coordinate with public agencies including state agencies, counties, and municipalitiesEnsure compliance with state and federal design standards and proceduresSupport proposal preparation and business development efforts as needed

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field4-8 years of progressive highway/roadway design experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) license in MassachusettsExperience working on county and/or municipal projects, including those that are state or federally fundedProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3DStrong knowledge of AASHTO and MassDOT roadway design standardsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    Compensation

    The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $115,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
