The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, and project requirements to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs, supporting competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
Review electrical drawings, specifications, and scope of work
Perform quantity takeoffs for electrical systems (power, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, etc.)
Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
Identify risks, value-engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors
Maintain historical cost data and pricing databases
Assist with bid preparation, proposal reviews, and bid submissions
Support project handoff from estimating to operations
Track changes, addenda, and scope revisions during the bidding process
Required Qualifications
Experience as an Electrical Estimator or similar role in construction
Strong understanding of electrical systems and construction methods
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, PlanSwift, Bluebeam)
Strong math, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman or Master Electrician background
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field
